Midrange Laptop with backlit keyboard
Hey guys. Need a favor. I'd like to upgrade from my trusty Dell Inspiron 1427 laptop. Let me know any suggestions you have for a Midrange laptop (13-15 inches / 4Gb Memory/ 320 to 500Gb HDD/ midrange graphics card) and if it has an option for a backlit keyboard..
Thanks in advance folks! Happy 2012!!

I really want a laptop that can run titles like Starcraft 2 and BF 3, but I don't want to drop $1,500 on an alienware. Where should I turn to next?
Still want an integrated nvidia graphics card and at least 8 gigs of ram. The first alienware I looked at (and tricked out haha) was the m14x

Can anyone help me find a laptop with these specs?
I'm looking for a laptop. But here's what I'm looking for:
These are a must:
NFC
DLNA
Bluetooth
at least 1 USB 3.0 port but must have at least 2 usb ports
An HDMI port (In and out if possible
touch screen (possibly a convertible laptop) and a camera (for video chat. i don't plan on sing this for photography. it looks stupid)
Can't be over 14 in in width, High-Res Display.
Optical drive not necessary. looking for a thin laptop.
Core i5 or i7 cpu, max out ram at 8 GB (can't sit pretty t 4 gb or ram)

What is the best tablet to use for PowerPoint presentations?
[I would prefer an Android-based tablet since I'm already familiar with that platform.]
By "best tablet" I mean, which is the most reliable and intuitive device for running PowerPoint? What about connecting the tablet to a projector? Do they all have mini HDMI? Of course I wouldn't be designing the presentations on the tablet, simply running them.
Thoughts? Any help is appreciated!

Are There Any Decent Touchscreen Laptops Out There Yet?
I'm in the market for a new laptop after three years. Now I'm the kinda guy who doesn't mind spending a couple hundred dollars more right now to get something that seems like overkill at the present, so long as it keeps me chugging along at a decent pace for two or three years. Basically, I don't like to throw down money for a new gadget every year.
This brings me to my question: Are there any decent touchscreen laptops available these days? I ask because it's patently obvious that that's the... Read more →

Price for Asus UX31 and UX21?
I know intel said that the price was going to be less than $1000, but now that doesn't seem possible.

Best Windows Laptop for Under $800?
I'm not looking for anything too special. But cheap would be nice. I wouldn't say I need a huge hard drive, as I don't hold much on it, and the one I currently have is like 100GB and it has served me fine. I would like to stick with Windows 7.. The only little thing I might want would be a somewhat decent video card, as from time to time I still get random urges to play games.

What is the best laptop for me?
Ok I know that this gets asked a lot but Ive never asked it. Ive use windows my hole life I have a ASUS 1201E Ive add 4 gigs of ram, put in a SSD I have out grow this little thing! I've been looking at the Mac book Pro 13in but just cant find a reason to get that over anything else. I do not care much for the looks and I use Android for my phone and tablet. But watching twit tonight everyone had one. Im in school for math and computer SC so I'm learning to wright code. But $1400 is a lot to...

Are Thinkpads really the most reliable laptops, then?
So I'm gonna be in the market for a new laptop in the next few months and I've been leaning more and more towards Lenovo. My current laptop is an Asus and it was a steal for the specs it gave me three years ago. However, it gave me more than a fair share of problems during these last three years, with two faulty optical drives and an overheating GPU problem that wasn't rectified even with a replacement. From what I've learned of other people's experiences with Dell, they're not much better. All...

May I have some advice on which laptop to get?
Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a new laptop this weekend since my current laptop, the Asus F3SC ( http://gdgt.com/asus/f3sc/ ), is really starting to show its age. As far as my ideal laptop, the specs I'd like are: 1. 14" widescreen 2. At least 4GB of RAM 3. Dedicated video card with 1GB of memory 4. At least one USB 3.0 5. GOOD Build Quality. 6. HDD should just be at least 500GB. 7. Decent battery life. I'm leaning towards the Asus N43JF-A1 (...

Is the Asus Transformer really the best Honeycomb tablet available?
I want a Honeycomb tablet and the lapdock is enticing - but is the Asus Transformer really the best Android tablet on the market?
by timchoi89
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Google is fragmenting its own OSs?
I honestly don't see the point of Chrome OS when you can use Honeycomb on a tablet or one that turns into a netbook like the Asus Transformer. I think it would be much smarter to put Chrome as the default web browser in Android and for Google to just push Android in the netbook/tablet market. What do you guys think? I think Google's cannibalization it's own OSs by having Chrome OS and Android compete with each other in the OS space...

Does anyone know how Honeycomb updates will be handled with the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer?
I want a honeycomb tablet and while I like the features of the transformer a lot I am worried about it not being updated as soon as updates become available for honeycomb. Does anyone know how this will be handled?

Are netbooks finally dead?
Seems like the general interest around netbooks has waned and the only thing you ever hear about them are Asus' 87th minor iteration of their Eee PC computers. Tablets are obviously the new hotness when it comes to large screen mobile computing, so you can credit them with putting the nail in the coffin. I have an Asus Eee 1000HE and I used it every now and then, but now that I have an iPad, I rarely power it up. With tablet prices are getting closer to the netbooks we have today, you can...

I'm in the market for a new Android Honeycomb tablet. It must be 10" and Honeycomb.
From everything I've read, it's nearly a dead on tie between the Asus Eee Pad Transformer and the Acer Iconia a500 tablets; both Tegra2, 1gb ram. I'm having the hardest time deciding between the two. The clear winner appears to be Asus per the IPS screen. But the Iconia build quality seems better; I like the aluminum. I don't plan on using a keyboard dock. I like the Iconia's usb ports and standard round power connector. I'm just worried about the tft screen and non...

Anyone having heat issues on their 1015PN? I've upgraded the internal drive to a 7200RPM, 2gigs RAM, Win7 Ultimate.
I use the Intel desktop Gadget to see CPU speed and temp. Even when idle it pumps out 120 to 140 degrees from the side fan. Seems a little hot to me for an Atom doing nothing. Was wondering if the 7200 running a little hotter is too much for it. Also noticed from the Gadget that CPU never seems to clock down below 1ghz, even when the machine is completely idle. I have a 7 year old Dell D610 with a 1.8ghz Pentium M that clocks down to 350mhz when idle. Curious why the Atom never cycles down.
