- Voice / mic quality My friends report that my voice comes through clean and clear, with minimal background noise.
- Sound quality The sound is crystal clear, with good bass response. Simulated surround is quite effective, as well.
- Comfort Despite their size, they are quite comfortable for long periods of time, thanks to the generously padded, closed-ear earpieces.
- Durability They've been snagged and pulled off the table to the floor many a time, with no ill effects whatsoever. The hard shell carrying case protects during transport.
- Design and form factor They're beautiful to look at, and the ability to insert insulating foam is nice for both me and others in the room who don't want the noise.
Detailed review
The build of the Astro A40s is exceedingly good. Solid as a rock, the size adjustment stays where you put it, and the included cables are heavy-duty. I have owned mine for 10 months now, and use 'em all over the place.
I can, as a musician, say that the stereo audio quality is better than any set of cans I've ever had, for both studio monitoring and general music listening.
The microphone quality is outstanding, and the ability to remove it when not needed is great for when I am just listening to stuff.
The only reason I (originally) dock(ed) them half a point (when it was a 10-point scale) is that they are a little on the expensive side. They do come with a really nice hardshell carrying case, though.
I heartily endorse the Astro A40s.
