After posting about user satisfaction with regard to the Kindle Tablet earlier today (see: http://gdgt.com/question/do-you-still-like-your-am... I decided to take a quick look at the top rated tablets on gdgt (based on a minimum of 5 user reviews). Here are the top rated tablets as of December 12th, 2011 (Reviews are based on a 0 - 5 point scale).
1. didn't come with a charger and uses the super-rare mini usb-LIKE connection. Huge pain in the butt considering I own about 35 usb to mini-usb cords. 2. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get ADB to recognize the device. 3. it uses .aos instead of update.zip, no one makes custom roms other than that thing is amazing, the processor is fast, screen is large but still fits in my pocket comfortably. So I have an iPhone and an iPod Touch. I really have no use for an Archos 5, but I got to play with the new 8GB model in Radio Shack. I would like to get one just to play around with Android. Will it eventually run 2.0? Is it now stable enough to even consider buying? Looking for some opinions.
Does anyone know if the A5S will be compatible with Dish Network Receivers like other Archos devices of the past? You were able to connect the Archos device to the Dish Network Receiver via USB and pull video content to watch on the Archos or you could connect the device to a different TV to watch.
Well it looks like the Android archos is finally get some more info, its $294 for 16GB SSD, $370 for 32GB SSD, $320 for 160GB HDD, and $420 for a 500GB HDD. The UI looks like a mix of Android and their own blend but in the pic you can see the android with the pullout tab bar and familiar icons. The only thing i didn't see was a market hopefully they just left that icon out. I myself will be saving for the 160gb, or the 500gb model....
