Here's the link to the kickstarter page http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/552506690/brydge-ipad-do-more Although it's difficult to pay $200 for a peripheral you've never touched before from a start up, I really think this product can get some traction. I will be picking up a new iPad soon and am currently going back and forth between Logitech's new keyboard cover and the Brydge. Logitech currently has a very favorable review on CNET....

One industry expert thinks Apple is about to launch its own mobile service, and cut out those pesky carriers and their bothersome contract terms. Of course, in order to do so, Apple would still need to cut deals with carriers to operate on their networks, becoming a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), much like Virgin Mobile, which runs on Sprint's network in the US. Still, being a carrier, even a virtual one, would allow Apple to do things like sell data plans via the iTunes store, and more...

This has been a big week on the cloud front. Not only has Google finally introduced their long-awaited Google Drive service, with 5GB of free storage, but the HTC One S is out now, and comes with 25GB of free Dropbox space, presumably to make up for the phone's lack of a microSD card slot. Meanwhile, Microsoft has finally made Skydrive easier to use, though new users will get just 7GB of free space, compared with the 25GB Microsoft previously offered. And, not to be left out, Apple has let it be...

As I understand it, the new iPad will not support any of the proposed 4G networks in development in the UK, yet the UK iPad page on the Apple website (http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/ultrafast-wireless/) promotes it with phrases like "The new iPad offers the most comprehensive support for fast networks around the world". To many, I imagine they would expect it to therefore work with whatever fast networks exist/will exist in the UK. We've already seen Apple having to provide refunds in Australia...

Do you think Apple is going to create a new standard and make the smaller 30 pin that everyone is talking about, or go the futuristic route and do inductive charging. If they do inductive charging they would completely simplify it by incorporating it into the phone and kill Powermat.
Or there's the radical idea that the glass on the back becomes a solar panel? Any ideas?
Apple is fast approaching $100 billion in the bank, and they just announced a conference call to discuss the balance. Is it finally time for Apple shareholders to see a dividend? What do you think they're going to announce?
The call will be tomorrow morning. Early. 6:00 am PDT/9:00 am EDT
I am just curious as to the evolution of users' cell phones over time. I realize this may date some people on the discussion, but it should be interesting to see. My cell phone history is this: Starting in 2004 Motorola T720 (1 year) Nokia 6101 (1 year) Sony Ericsson K790a (3 years) Sony Ericsson X10 and BlackBerry Bold 9700 (16 months of dual phones) BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 (1 month before unfortunate water damage) Sony Ericsson X10 (for another 5 months) BlackBerry 9790 (1.5 months and counting) My ...

I currently own the 3G iPad 2 and have been amazingly impressed with just how useful I have found the device. With most of the new features on the "new iPad" being minor changes or simple refresh updates, I am wondering who here on gdgt is planning on upgrading to the "new iPad" even though they may currently own an iPad 2 already. If you are planning on upgrading, let us know what pushed you to do so.
This Wednesday Apple will be holding a press conference about their latest iteration of the iPad. (Tune into gdgt as we'll be liveblogging the event here -- http://live.gdgt.com/live-apple-ipad-3-event-coverage/) There have been a lot of rumors about what the next version of the iPad will be like. I have a few predictions of my own based on nothing other than what I've been seeing on various news sites.
Improved Retina display. I think this all but a given at this point considering the quality of...
I love torrenting. I don't do it as much as I used to, but it's infinitely useful for free media and certainly the quickest way to get anything if you're willing to go through the hassle of trial and error. It's a pain to deal with my old laptop, searching for files, making sure the download finishes, transferring the file, sometimes using handbrake to convert the file, hoping it isn't in german or impossible to play, etc, but it's still better than paying money for music, movies and tv shows on...

Currently, 720p and 1080p are the HD standards that most TV's are running, and as such the content is of these resolutions. Cameras record in 720p and 1080p, YouTube displays in it.
However nothing to date that I know of natively displays in 2048 by 1536. Perhaps larger still images will be able to utilize the full resolution of the new iPad however I do not see video making the jump anytime soon.
Thoughts? Will 1536p be the new HD standard, due to Apple?
Earlier this week Apple announced the arrival of their new OSX build called Mountain Lion. One of their heralded new features was the introduction of iMessage to the desktop platform with the idea being simple: 1 conversation continued across any of Apple's hardware be it iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone, with iMessage you will never stop the conversation. I myself downloaded the beta of iMessage and tested this out first hand, I had my iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro in front of me as I carried on in...

There has been some speculation that Apple is doing this seemingly covert developer launch of Mountain Lion so that WWDC can be singularly devoted to iOS 6 and the iPhone 6 (6 since it will be the 6th-generation). So, now that Mountain Lion details are in the wild (pun definitely intended), and we've seen some of the iOS like features that will be integrated into Apple's non-mobile OS, what do you expect from iOS 6? One of the things I would really like is a more multifaceted UI that steps away...

I'm sitting here listening to a recent episode of BOL (CNet's Buzz out Loud... and now I'd really like to meet Aneesh Chopra... but I digress), and Molly just finished a rant about her experience with the Galaxy Nexus and a discussion about Google's business opportunities now that they have Motorola's mobile division and it got my wheels turning. Since day one of my involvement with Android I've longed for 1 thing.... stop playing catch up and INNOVATE, Google!!!! Ice Cream Sandwich is a big...

They have a lot to compete with in the lower priced market since the Fire came out. They are still wining the tablet market overall but with two budget friendly devices (Fire and Nook Tablet) picking up a bit of steam there is still a small segment for them to overtake. Do you think Apple should...

iPhone 5 Headed Into Production – Summer 2012 Release Likely FEBRUARY 1, 2012 It looks like the iPhone 5 might be available to consumers much sooner than many have predicted. According to 9to5mac.com, the iPhone is close to going into production–or at least that’s what an unnamed source from Foxconn in China tells the site. Foxconn, of course, has a contract with Apple to manufacture iPhones, so this report might just hold some weight to it. iPhone 5 Release Date Rumors As you might recall,...

The way I see it, this fragmentation - with allowing the OEMs to add their own little flavor to the vanilla Android OS (Blur for Motorola, Sense for HTC, etc.), it just delays all the phones from being instantly updated. That much is obvious. Microsoft did it right, just like Apple - they told the OEMs, essentially saying: "There will be no tweaking of the Windows Mobile OS. It will be deployed as is." This allows them to push out updates instantly to every phone out there at the same time,...

Lately I've discovered the beauty of free online classes via iTunesU. Has anyone else taken or is currently taking a class on iTunesU. If you have, which classes would you highly recommend? What's your thoughts on iTunesU?
I have been searching everywere for iTunes for android but I can't find it, is there even a iTunes for android or what. I have had iTunes for a long time and I have not had a single problem with it.
I'm looking for a laptop for college and am wondering, should I wait to see if anything is announce at WWDC 2012 about the MacBook Pros? I'm just looking for some insight as to what you think; USB 3.0, Mac OSX Mountain Lion, redesign, Ivy Bridge?
1 dead pixel is more than ugly on an iPad2 added with the speck of dust or something eating up a precious '4.something' pixels. I always keep looking them. Do i get a product replacement?
Got a 64 GB iPad and whenever I try to sync movies through iTunes it just doesn't sync, the TV shows and other video syncs just fine. The movies are also iTunes purchases but stored on an external hard drive.
I just received my order of CCM® Capacitive iPad Stylus 3-Pack / iPad 2 Stylus, but the tip doesn't seem to glide as smoothly as my previous stylus which I purchased on clearance from Best Buy and promptly lost. Any one have suggestions for a stylus that glides/swipes across Apple's glass as well as screen protectors with as little resistance (preferably none) as possible?
I love the iPhone but feel the screen size is too small. I have read that the retina display would be effected by simply increasing the size of the device and wonder whether making the screen taller (think another row of icons) would be something that Apple would consider doing. I feel the extra real estate would be useful, but would this be possible or likely and would it have a significant impact for iOS developers ?
I'm looking to transition a Mac Mini from being a HTPC to a kitchen computer. It looks like you can get a decent 20" touchscreen monitor for under $300, but I'm not sure any of them work with OS X. I know touchscreen drivers for OS X are available for sale at http://www.touch-base.com/ but I'd rather not spend an additional $210.
Restored my new iPad from a previous back up held in iCloud. After the restore the iPad hasn't updated any folders in Mail, it just endlessly keeps "Checking for mail" without actually updating nothing. I've already restarted the iPad, quit the Mail App & done the two finger reset but it's still the same.
My friend has a 32" Samsung HDTV, and Apple TV and an Airport Express for networking. She wants to be able to AirPlay audio to the home stereo as well as pipe audio from the HDTV and the Apple TV to the stereo system as well. She also has a DVD player that I guess could either be routed through the HDTV or put directly in the stereo.
Something high quality (with a subwoofer most likely) and reasonably priced. Not sure if 5.1 is needed. Probably just a 2.1 would be best. Any recommendations GDGT?
So I will be getting a new iPad in the next couple of weeks. I already decided that I want a LTE version but I have no idea what storage size i should get, 32 or 64? I know 32 to 64 is only $100 more but $100 is $100. I dont plan on having too much video or any music. I have an iPhone 4S and a iPod nano watch that pretty much store my entire collection of music that I listen to. So i would pretty much use the iPad for apps and some video. Im thinking 32 may suffice? Any thoughts would be...
My Apple TV suddenly has stopped displaying all the built in Apps. I downloaded & successfully applied the latest software update and it worked fine till yesterday. Now it just displays a movie I've rented but nothing else like top movies, tv shows, podcasts & other stuff. I've rebooted it, done a hard reset but nothing seems to work.
I have an iTunes account that I share with my family, with iTunes in the Cloud, Apple mentioned that there is a 10 device limit on it. What I want to know if this includes the 5 computers you are allowed to authorise an account with.
I'm currently at the AppleStore and I can't get over how nice the desks are. I started thinking that a similar setup with an optional stool might be nice at my place. Obviously I wouldn't shell out $6,000 per desk, but something similar would be ideal. Any ideas from the GDGT community?
