Detailed review
This macbook air is amazing. Finally its powerfully enough to multitask effortlessly. I usually have adobe photoshop & illustrator open, with mail, pages, and a browser with 15+ tabs and this macbook air doesn't miss a beat. I do not miss my 15in Macbook Pro! Battery life is good, I can get about 5-6 hours.

I'm debating whether to trade in my early 2008 MacBook for either a 13" MacBook Air or 13" MacBook Pro. Did you get the basic package for your Air?

Also, I use the Adobe Suite and am involved in multimedia for a living, would you recommend the Air for these types of tasks? Do the programs ever glitch or run slowly?

I greatly appreciate your input already!

I customized the base Macbook Air 13" to 8gigs of RAM. I'm a web designer/developer, I run photoshop, illustrator, coda 2 (code editor), 2 web browsers, and sometimes spotiify. It runs all of that very smoothly. Sometimes I get carried away and have 45 tabs open in Firefox. I do not do video editing but I have seen reviews of designers running Adobe premiere smoothly on the previous gen Macbook Air.

As for choose between the 13" Pro and Air its comes down to portability and hard drive space. You can't change the flash storage on the lower end Air, but its so portable. That's why I choose the Air. I was tired of lugging around my 15" Macbook Pro. Also the Air has no moving parts which is a plus. I had to replace my 15" Macbook Pro hard drive 3 times in 2 years.

If you want more space the 13" Macbook Pro has more hard drive space. It not terribly heavy, unless you compare it to the air.
I hope this helps you makes your decision easier. Also you can always try out the Air for 14 days and if it doesn't fit into your workflow exchange it for the Pro.

Thank you so much for your time and thought. It sounds like we have very similar needs when it comes to computer usage!

I am placing my order right now. Will definitely upgrade to the 8GB, seems like a no-brainer. Also, I have an external hard drive with tons of space, so I don't need the rooted storage. I went into an Apple store today to take one last look in person. I have high hopes for this next Apple purchase. After all, any new Mac notebook should feel like a dream compared to the early 2008 MacBook I've been abusing for the past 4+ years! I'll be sure to post an update (whether good or bad) in the future should I feel so inclined.

Thanks again!
