Best storage device available under $200?
details
Just bought a 2012 retina Macbook pro. I love everything about it except that the hard drive size is about the same as my old laptop from 2007 (SSD will do that). I'm currently debating between these choices for upgrading my storage device from a 1TB WD My book from 2008 to one of these. I will be mainly storing photos, digital copies of blu rays and some music and home movies.
I don't travel that much, but when I travel I would like to bring this. I want at least 1TB and have a budget of between... Read more →

I have a Macbook Air 13", what would I use a Nexus 7 for?
details
I've been looking at tablets for a while, and the Nexus 7 is the first tablet I'm seriously considering. I've asked questions of the gdgt community regarding productivity apps, and it certainly sounds like I could get some actual work done on the nexus as well as using it as a consumption device.
But in a world where I have a computer that can fit in a manilla envelope, is it overkill to also own a tablet? Partly I'm curious just about what I can do with Android, and maybe that's enough, but I...

Which laptop should I choose for college?
details
I would be joining college soon and I am confused on which laptop to choose. Only apple. I am confused on to buy MacBook air of MacBook Pro. I want something that would not make me regret not being able to college use for a year or two before I upgrade. I already have an iPhone and iPad. I do not play games or much of graphics intensive stuff. So I am confused on Air 13 inches and Pro 15 inches.

Multi-monitor setup Mac laptop

I'm currently looking on upgrading my computer rig with a new monitor (change a small 14 inch monitor to a 24 inch on my three monitor setup.
I have a Windows desktop, two Apple laptops (newest Macbook Pro 13-inch, and newest Macbook Air 13-inch, one work, one private).
My long-term "dream" would be to somehow have three operating system on three monitors. My first gut-feeling was building a Hackintosh, throw in 3 SSD-hardrives and triple boot.
But I recently thought I could somehow connect my... Read more →

Is the Air powerful enough to use as a development platform?
details
I am wondering whether the Air, with its limited memory and storage, is powerful enough to use as an iOS developer machine? I would also run VMware Fusion, occasionally, and Firefox or Chrome with dozens (and sometimes hundreds) of tabs open. I also use PhotoShop, occasionally, and use it as my portable photo repository (my primary photo archive is at home). I have an '08 White MacBook, now, that is able to handle the load (not great, but passably). Others who have an Air love it and say that it... Read more →

Best way to transfer applications, settings, files, etc to another Mac?
details
I did a quick search and saw that OSX has a utility called Migration Assistant but it's unclear if I can use that to dump everything to a drive first. Is Is this the best option or should I use a combination of the new App Store & iCloud? I've only had to do this on a Windows machine so this is new for me.

How is Windows performance when using Bootcamp?
details
I'm thinking of setting up a Bootcamp partition to use with Steam since some of my games are not OSX compatible. Most of the stuff I play is lower resource indie stuff so I wont be looking for high end graphics, just a more compatible platform my steam library. If you've done this what have been your results with using this method?

Using an iPad as a second monitor?
details
I know there are apps that do this and I've been thinking about doing this to expand working space. Before I go and make the investment in AirDisplay I wanted to see how it's worked out for others? Additionally can be used as a third monitor if I'm already using a second monitor via display port?

Hi, i am looking to get a new laptop in the early part fo the year and have settled on two options: the 13-inch Macbook Air with the 128GB SSD or the 13-inch base Macbook Pro.
I will be using the laptop as my primary computer, as well as for some iOS development. I will also be dual booting the laptop with Windows 7 using Bootcamp so that I can use Visual Studio, as I also develop Windows Phone 7 apps.
