Detailed review
I had the first white Macbook. At the time it was quite fast CD 2.0Ghz, 1Gig, 120Gig HD, Bluetooth, Superdrive. It came with Panther at the time and run quite well. The construction was solid and the keyboard, although unique at the time, was easy to get used to. I actually think it made me a more precise typer. I ended up upgrading to 2Gig RAM (max for 1st gen) and a faster HDD for Leopard. It still runs Leopard fine and is light years ahead of netbooks.
Pros
- Good looks...hey it's white.
- Solid computing muscle
- Good build quality (never had the yellow wrist area issue)
- Runs Leopard well
- Easy RAM and HDD upgrade
Cons
- The GMA950 graphics chips blows
- Could be pricey for an entry level machine
- LCD is note the best quality given the price
- Display doesn't articulate backwards far enough
