Just got home from the uptown mn apple store. I went in to look at the 13" MacBook pro I made my way over to the decktops. I should say that I have been thinking about a desk for a bit. I was looking at the $1500 with the 21" display nice! Now as school nears I'm thinking will I be more productive with a desktop? I have a Asus 1201 e with a ssd and I'm typing this in bed on my thive. But I want all the nice things apple has. What are your thoughts how do you work best at home or at work is it...

Neat trick!
Get a broken black macbook topcase (there's plenty of them out there), and use the black keycaps on your white macbook. It looks awesome! Just make sure you have the right topcase, there's 2 different key mechanics on the macbooks. Or if you have a black macbook try out white keys!

Bought this in 2006. Heatsink needed replacing, then the webcam stopped working, ethernet port is dead, hard disk died and the fan made a horrendous noise.
Replaced the fan, and hard disk and then the magsafe power adapter stopped working. Overall a really unreliable computer. It's a shame because when it worked it was quite nice. I won't be buying another Mac.

Never had such an amazing computer. It adds productivity to my hectic college life and doesn't hiccup on me.
I still use PC for gaming but will never stop recommending Macintosh computers as the #1 choice for people who want something that just works.

Thanks to iFixit just replaced the bluetooth module in my Macbook Core Duo.
The Bluetooth was spotty and would sometimes completely become unavailable, plus it would not let my Macbook sleep properly with the lid closed. A quick 20.00 part and a little bit of help from the ifixit guide and boom I feel like my laptop is back. Now if I can just get that bloody new keyboard from Hong Kong.

Can video be imported from a DV Camera into iMovie on the MacBook?
Since the MacBook no longer has a Firewire port, is it possible to get video into the computer from a DV Camera for simple video editing through iMovie? I don't need the extras of a MacBook Pro. Is it possible to use an adapter that will go from Firewire to USB?

Upgrade a MacBook to an SSD?
Has anyone upgraded their MacBook with an SSD drive? If so, was it as simple as any other HDD upgrade? Do you notice a marked speed improvement? Thanks! -jf.

13 Inch Aluminium MacBook
I noticed that this product description pages pictures a black and white 13-in MacBook. I have the aluminum version. Would it be possible to upload a photograph of that one? Does anyone else have this computer in aluminum? Ignore the misspelling of the title! Reminds me of the BNL song aluminium/aluminum.

Student Deals?
I'm thinking of buying a 13-inch MacBook Pro for when I go to college next year. I'm not really familiar with Apple deals. I know Apple gives a $100 discount for college students, but are there better deals at different times of the year? I was thinking of buying it during Black Friday, but if there is a better time for me to buy later in the year, I may hold off until then.

Black MacBook
Apple, why did you discontinue the black macbook? In my opinion, it looks and feels better than the white plastic. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a black one. Then it is gone. Currently I own a macbook pro (not unibody) 15-inch but everyday I dream of a black macbook and how my life would be different with it. There are alternatives, such as the colorware stealth limited edition, but, in the end, it is just not the same. Don't get me wrong, I love mac os x and everything about it....

RAM Upgrade for early 2008 model.
I'm looking to upgrade my RAM but I'm not sure how much my MacBook (bought January 2008) can take. I believe it is running the Santa Rosa chipset which, whilst digging around on the internet, can apparently take up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. If this is the case I would find it helpful for someone to confirm this and would also like suggestions of what I should buy! I'm also wondering about the update process itself, is it just as simple as ripping out the old RAM and putting in the new...

Replacement hard drive - which one?
My 2006 MacBook's original 100 GB hard drive has only about 9 GB available. It doesn't appear to be that difficult to remove or install MacBook hard drives. Anyone have any suggestions for new hard drives? I'd probably want a 320 GB replacement drive. Thanks.

6 bit display
I was reading the blog post the other day: http://mantia.me/blog/macbook-pro-thousands-of-col... and I was wondering what it actually means to the end users.

How do you keep your white macbook white?
I've got all these "protectors" on my macbook, but I hate it. It's like .. covering your new sofa with plastic, you know? But I want a good solution to get the stains and dirt off of the keys and the surrounding area. Plus, I'm a smoker, and some parts are turning yellow! (I know, I know, please don't say the Q word :)
