  • Speed and features 2.4 GHz at the time was the higher end model, but I am so glad I spent a bit more. Having kept it clean, it still has great speeds! good
  • Design and form factor I remember waiting so long for this computer as I followed the rumors. Suffice to say, I was so pumped to finally get this! And it didn't disappoint. great!
  • Battery life At first, the 4-6ish hours it advertised was great, and almost 4 years later, it will last me about 3-3.5 hours, which is still sufficient. good
  • Display A really great looking LED screen! great!
  • Durability Can't say I've ever tried just dropping it, but I can imagine it would not turn out great. I do like how it has the feature to shut the HD down on drops, though good
  • Expandability Very limited ports, but it's been sufficient. so-so
  • Noise A very quiet computer when running standard tasks. When I start watching videos, the fans will turn on and it gets a bit loud at times. great!
  • Portability (size / weight) Still a pretty slim form factor, but next to the new MacBook Air, it's pretty big and hefty. good
Detailed review
Throughout the summer of 2008, I tracked the rumors and I waited so patiently for the very first unibody aluminum MacBook to be released. Unfortunately for me, it didn't come out in time for the start of my freshman year of college. Instead, I had to rent a PC from the campus computer store for the first couple months until I could finally get my hands on this computer...but boy was it worth the wait! It has lasted me for a long time, and still works great today. I've sort of been thinking about a potential upgrade in the next year or so, but it's hard to justify it when this computer is still in such good shape!
