Why hasn't Apple done a laptop with built-in 3G (or even 4G) yet?
details
I suspect the only real answer to this lies buried somewhere deep within Apple HQ, but that prototype MacBook Pro with integrated WWAN that showed up on eBay had me wondering about why they never released it.
Other PC makers have been including built-in 3G in their laptops for years now, but we still haven't seen it in a MacBook. Seems like there's no reason they couldn't offer MacBooks with the same data options as iPads, right? Anyone have any idea why -- or at least some theories about why?...

How to remove a stripped screw in Macbook Pro?
details
As I was trying to extract the superdrive to replace it with a hard drive, I stripped one of the screws (all the other screws came out easily but this one seemed very tightly screwed in). It is recessed so I can't get to it with pliers or a drill. I took it to the Genius Bar because I have heard others have had luck getting help from them but they said that they couldn't get it out. I searched online and tried to use a rubber band but that didn't work. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Corner protection for Macbook Pro's?
details
So I regularly have had this issue - more often with the Airs but I've just discovered I've done it with a new 17" MBP as well. What happens is that due to the softness of the aluminium and the natural 'deadness' of it, when I'm carrying e.g. a heavily loaded notebook bag and there is a sizeable weight on the MBP's lid even on a temporary basis, or if there's a corner impact on the laptop in a certain way while in a bag, it bends the edge of the bottom of the screen assembly and what happens... Crucial M4 512Gb in i7 2.3Ghz 17" Macbook Pro
details
I've recently completed a complete replacement of all of my '09/'10 unibody 17-inchers to the current Quadcore models. At the moment, they either have the carryover Vertex SSD's installed or I am about to do so. I'm starting to standardise on either/or Elmcrests/M4's for my SATA6 SSD's and I'm wondering if I should stick SATA6 SSD's in the new machines to take advantage of the SATA6 interface on these notebooks. If I am, I was thinking it might be prudent to stick the 512Gb M4's in, instead of... Read more →

Is there a trackpad skin on the market with a raised or textured bump to divide the touchpad into (virtual) left and right button areas?
details
I've seen a product called "TrackPad Slick Film #501" which I could probably use to divide the touchpad into 2 areas, but I want three: touchpad, left button, and right button. I'm waiting for Apple to ship my new 17" but I'm already familiar with Apple's buttonless touchpads. They aren't for me. I'm sure someone will suggest that I just "get used to the buttonless touchpad" but it's hard for me to agree that lack of tactile feedback is...
