The computer even gets warm but there is no startup chime and the screen never turns on. This happens with or without being plugged in and with or without a battery inserted. I also tried to boot from a DVD to no avail. Needless to say I'm pissed as I have replaced the SuperDrive, the power adapter, and the battery. This time it seems more serious. I'll probably go with an HP Envy with an SSD next time...no moving parts.

Hey guys, I have a MacBook Pro 17-inch (non-unibody) and I've been having this issue. Whenever I use the computer, the screen starts flickering and changing colors. So black is flickering a purple color, white flickering blue... etc. Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks! -TS

Hello fellow gdgt'ers (can I say that yet?) The HDD in my current MBP 17" has been running out of space at least once a week. I already transfer a good amount of my stuff to my network, as well as my portable, but there's some things which I prefer to keep on there at all times. I have started to get some corrosion-like pitting on the palm rest of my MBP. It is tiny pits in the aluminum that are black on the inside. This drives me nuts since it destroys the clean look of the laptop. Is there a way to fix this? Do you think apple would put on a new top plate if I went to the Apple Store? I have AppleCare so my warranty is still good for another 2 years.

Last night, my computer was working ok. Then this morning when I turned it on, the computer booted, but there was nothing on the screen. I tried to reinstall tiger, but the computer screen was still blank. I tried all the solutions on apple's support page, but none of the work. My warranty already expired. Anybody know how to fix this? Any idea? besides going to the apple store?
