The Apple Care coverage is rather impressive, but depending, you might need it.
details
While nothing has happened to make my MacBook Pro 100% useless, the optical drive became disabled in such a way that it would not burn dual layer discs, twice, and the battery issued service warnings, twice. However, I am notoriously rough on my hardware, and carried it around every day for the past few years, so I tend to be the exception rather than the rule. However, despite the dents and scratches, Apple still replaced my DVD±RW/DL drives and batteries, and in less than five days.

Are there seriously no 5.1 options for Macs?
details
So I bought mine with a ripped off screen for $256 and thus have this dedicated as an HTPC and the only I'm missing from a perfect setup is 5.1 sound. With all of the creative software out there I'm wondering, why the shortage of 5.1 audio? Has my google-fu failed me? Can i just not find them?

What's the best sport bag for the Macbook Pro?
details
In an effort to combat the onslaught of holiday calories this season, I want to start skating to work. Unfortunately, the bag I currently use to carry my Macbook won't work well for my aerobic commute. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good sport bag for the Macbook Pro 15? It kinda needs to look good too.

Burner (super combo drive)
details
Anyone have problems with burning media on MBP 15 inch? Every time I try to burn something using the disk utility it says that there is a "medium write error". I thought there was a problem with the Tiger OS. After upgrading to Snow Leopard I had the same problem. So i thought it was a hardware issue. BUT, I then tried burning media with Windows 7 after installing it using bootcamp, and it worked... I don't understand what is going on with Apple's OS...

Should I buy my friends MacBook Pro
details
Hi, My friend has a MacBook Pro 2.16 Core 2 Duo with the X1600, and he says that he is thinking of selling it so he can get a new MacBook White because it runs faster (can someone verify this). I didn't ask him this, but I am thinking of buying it from him. I currently only have a Desktop PC (E8400, 4870) and this would be a nice lappie. If I am thinking about buying a Core i7 MacBook Pro Unibody at about August of next year, do you think I should buy this if get a price of around $600-$700... Read more →

Proformence hit while running windows? And windows 7
details
Hey i was just wondering how much of a proformence hit the mac book pros get when running a virtual copy of windows. I really want to purchase one but a lot of the programs i have are windows only (3ds max, auto cad, revit) and i need to know if running them via a virtual version of windows will vastly effect the speed and proformence of the machine. Also would you be able to put windows 7 on this thing?

Upgrade or No Upgrade
details
Alright I have been thinking about this for a few months now. I have a non-unibody Macbook Pro which I got back in December of '08. I have been thinking about upgrading but can't really justify it. I have the matte screen version with the 512mb 8600GT. I was thinking of upgrading to either a 13 or 15inch but don't really know what would be better. I do a lot of photo editing as I am a photographer. The student discount and free iPod don't hurt either :D Just looking for some...

Time to upgrade?
details
I have the original Macbook Pro 15 inch. I've been taking a close look at the unibodies, and while the engineering is impressive, I'm struggling to find a reason to upgrade. I like having the ability to swap out multiple batteries. The 2GHZ speed and 667mhz bus speed on the original seem fine for most uses. I use Final Cut Pro, Aperture, iTunes, iPhoto primarily. While it would be occasionally nice to have faster FCP rendering, this isn't a huge deal for me. So, am I missing...
