Internal keyboard and trackpad randomly stop allowing input.
details
Basically, at random intervals the laptop keyboard and trackpad don't register any input. The machine is definitely not locked up as the clock still counts seconds and everything on the screen still shows progress bars moving etc. Also, an external keyboard and mouse still work after the internal ones stop working.
Ultimate I upgraded machines over this issue, but I still use it for my dj (the external dj controller does not lock up, just like the external keyboard and mouse) and any insight... Read more →

Sluggish performance when MacBook Pro connected to Dell U2711
details
Hardware - I have an early 2008 macbook pro (2.4 core 2 duo, 4gb RAM, Kingston V+100 96GB SSD) and I connect that to a Dell U2711. I am running OS X Lion. Problem - When I use the laptop without connecting it to the monitor, everything works smooth and it is snappy. But when I use it with the monitor, the performance is sluggish. For example, the scrolling isn't smooth, when I minimize a window that is also not smooth as it should be. If I put an application in fullscreen mode, that animation... Read more →

with os x lion, my mbp goes black on closing the lid but never goes to sleep nor does it come alive. Any solutions?
details
I just installed the new mac os X lion on my 2006 c2d macbook pro to a second partition on my second HDD (replaced the superdrive with a second hdd) to give it a try before deciding if it can replace my snow leopard which seems to work just fine so far. While it installed fine and works well for the most part (tho I miss the multitouch trackpad), as soon as I close the lid, the screen goes black just like it would on snow leopard before going to sleep, but the fans and drive keep spinning even... My 2010 Macbook Pro overheats and shuts down constantly - does anyone else have this problem?
details
Anyone have an ideas what is going on here? I took it in to the Apple store and they said it "was probably a software problem" and reinstalled the operating system - but that hasn't fixed the problem. What happens is this: my mac starts to become very hot, I can hear the fan whirring at top speed, and then the screen just goes black. I then have to restart the machine and get an error message that the laptop had a "kernel panic". This used to happen about once a day, but now happens so...

I need a laptop. A high-end, sturdy, machine that's meant to stand the test of time for 3-4 years.
details
Operating system (Windows/OSX) doesnt matter. I at least 4hrs battery life I'd like USB 3.0 (I mean... it's 2010) I'd like an eSata port I don't need firewire 800 HDMI would be nice, but is not a deal breaker Nvidia optimus or some other graphic card auto-switching (or manual switching) technology is preferred durable build quality without being too too bulky. Core i5 or core i7(dual, not quad core) chips should be the base platform here. it must be able to handle up to 8gb...

HyperMac External battery (100Wh) or FastMac TruePower battery
details
According to the coconutbattery app, my macbook pro battery has only 76% capacity left, which isn't much but I'm getting less than three hours of battery life. I'm thinking of getting a 100Wh HyperMac external battery ($299.95) or just replace it with FastMac's TruePower battery replacement for $100 less. Any suggestions or comments on which one is preferable? Has anyone tried any or both?

Spinwheel of death
details
I've had my computer for a while now, running great and whatnot until recently. I am a designer and have to use the entire adobe suite all the time. I used to be able to run three adobe programs at a time with minimal lag between them. Now I have a hard time even opening photoshop without it crashing and having the dreaded spinwheel appearing for at least a minute at a time when I just click the type tool in photoshop. I did recently install snow leopard on the machine and didn't know if... Read more →

Constant Re-boot (Core Duo 2.0ghz)
details
I am having an issue with my computer constantly rebooting. I thought it was a problem with Snow Leopard, but I have replicated it with Leopard as well, both on clean installs. It usually will happen at start up, and do it a couple of times, then it will run for a while. It will also hang when it goes to sleep, and if it does, a forced shutdown usually gets the rebooting problem happening again. I have reset pram and smc with no luck. I have also ran Memtest 86 from the Kubuntu Live CD. I did... Read more →

Battery Not Charging
details
I just purchased a new batter for my MBP 2.0ghz Core Duo. The battery I had before this would drain down pretty quick, but I never had this issue. I get a Not Charging when I'm plugged in. I have tried different operating systems (Leopard, Snow Leopard, Windows 7, Kubuntu) and am having the same problem on all. I've also tried letting the battery drain down below 90% because I heard that the batter wouldn't charge unless it was below 95%. I've also tried a different power supply... Read more →
