Detailed review
The new MacBook Pro 13-Inch ("new" is used loosely here, since the design dates from October '08) is a stunningly beautiful and exquisitely-crafted machine. It's simultaneously the best computing experience I've ever had and a frustrating reminder of how proprietary and controlled the Apple ecosystem can be. Mac users give up choice and control for stability and beauty. Using this laptop, I'm very happy with the rock-solid construction and attention to detail that is evident in the product. I'm also ashamed that my laptop lacks common features from budget-friendly Acer laptops. Nearly all of my friends have Windows laptops and just have to stare on longingly while they insert memory cards, swap out hard drives and batteries, connect hard drives using e-sata, connect their HDMI cable and play Blu-Ray movies, etc.

That being said, I have been happy in nearly every respect with my MacBook Pro. I just sometimes wish Apple would loosen up a bit and make consumer-friendly machines. Apparently Blu-Ray is a "bag of hurt" according to Steve Jobs. It seems like Apple loves to take 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. "You want Firewire 800? You got it! You want an SD card slot? You got it! You want 8GB of RAM? You got it!"

Then, they add non-replaceable batteries...

Still, this laptop is a thing of beauty. A strong 8.5/10
