What are people's experiences with battery life with the final build compared to OS X Lion?
Is this MBP's boot time really slow, or is it just me?
So I just bought this shiny new MacBook Pro almost a month ago, 13", even sprung for the i7 instead of the i5. But from the very first time I tried to boot it up, the boot has always been massively slow! It would take about 55 seconds or longer to go from pushing the power button to arriving at the login screen -- this isn't including re-launching any programs, mind you, as I don't have it set to autologin. I even upgraded it to 8 gigs of ram, and it had -no- effect on the boot time whatsoever....

FYI: If you install 8Gb Ram in new 13" MB Pro, you go from 384mb of video Ram to 512mb
I was happily surprised to find that when I upgraded to 8gb of DDR3 1333mhz ram in my Core i5 Base model Macbook Pro, I went from 384mb of shared Vram to 512mb Vram. I am not sure how much of a difference this will make with the HD 3000 graphics but in theory it should give it a slight boost in performance. Also my Geekbench scores (64 Bit) is 6546 with the 8gb of ram in stalled up from around 5900..

The MBP is our first mac product since PowerPC and MacOS 9. I couldn't be more impressed by boot and login times--up and running in less than 7 seconds.
It leaves both our Win7 desktop my XP laptop in the dust. Our Pro includes an SSD drive, so that may be a larger factor in boot times.

Bummed that they did not do the 13 inch. What does the "creative executive" who needs portability and performance?
I want a 13 inch macbook pro with all the trimmings!

What do you think of the MBP refresh?
Apple finally gave their MacBook Pros the refresh you've long been hearing about: Sandy Bridge processors, AMD graphics (except for the 13" MBP), Thunderbolt I/O, and HD webcams. Engadget has a nice overview of all the changes: http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/24/apple-refreshes... I'm a little disappointed that the 13" still has a 1280x800 resolution screen. I would consider picking one up if it was 1440x900, which is plausible...
