So I just bought this shiny new MacBook Pro almost a month ago, 13", even sprung for the i7 instead of the i5. But from the very first time I tried to boot it up, the boot has always been massively slow! It would take about 55 seconds or longer to go from pushing the power button to arriving at the login screen -- this isn't including re-launching any programs, mind you, as I don't have it set to autologin. I was happily surprised to find that when I upgraded to 8gb of DDR3 1333mhz ram in my Core i5 Base model Macbook Pro, I went from 384mb of shared Vram to 512mb Vram. I am not sure how much of a difference this will make with the HD 3000 graphics but in theory it should give it a slight boost in performance. Also my Geekbench scores (64 Bit) is 6546 with the 8gb of ram in stalled up from around 5900..
Apple finally gave their MacBook Pros the refresh you've long been hearing about: Sandy Bridge processors, AMD graphics (except for the 13" MBP), Thunderbolt I/O, and HD webcams.
