  • Ease of use The only downside was that Beige G3 and PBWS users had to hack their systems to get this to run, as pre-USB Macs were now unsupported. good
  • Speed Improvements and code tweaking everywhere. good
  • Configurability Tools were even coming along that could modify your plists for you. good
  • Ecosystem (apps, drivers, etc.) Hardware manufacturers took notice of ever-increasing sales. good
  • Openness BSD again. good
Detailed review
This was the first release of OS X that made computers obsolete. At the same time, this was the first version of OS X that saw a large community of people hacking their systems to make it run.

Efforts inside of Apple did make this the fastest version of OS X to date, even running some Carbon hybrid apps faster than OS 9.x was able to.
