I have a very repetitive job where I write the same things over and over. I would like to shorten this by installing or making use of an Autofill feature on my desktop (Vista and or iOS). I'm not talking about filling out my address and contact information, just normal writing in my Rockmelt browser. I use this on my iPhone but can't seem to get it to work on my Vista PC or Mac OS X Leopard.
Ever download something, go to install it.. It zips to the end so you think it's perfect and done. Then it gets to about 95% and just hangs there for hours and hours on end?
I've never set reset my PRAM before. What should I expect? Will I need to change anything back afterword? I found this info on apple's website describing what PRAM stores (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379):
I've had an original Apple TV just sitting in a box for ages now. It's not really useful for anything, considering the Apple TV software it runs is old and won't be updated. It's almost not even worth it to recycle -- I think Gazelle will give me a total of $35 for it! So, I've been looking at Mac minis to run as cheap server at home. Would the original Apple TV possibly fit that bill? Is possible to jailbreak and hack it so that I could run it as a headless server at home?
I'd like to be able to get the sum of hours of a selected group of events in iCal without manually adding them up. I've searched Google for a solution and there are a few utilities that might do that. I know it's stupid, but I don't want a whole other app just to do one simple task. You would think the iCal inspector would give that information (Command + Option + I), similar to Finder's inspector's behavior. If anyone happens to know of a light-weight option, plugin or script, something....
The last few versions of iMovie have been rather unintuitive and difficult when it comes to editing movies. Is there a cheap or free solution for editing movies on a Mac that can support multiple clips, transitions, and adding audio (music)? Quicktime Player almost works (you can trim clips and add multiple clips), but it seems to lack in transitions and adding audio.
Is there a light-weight utility that will allow me to save images for web the same way Photoshop does? The last screenshot I took went from 1.1 MB to 165 KB with no noticeable loss using Photoshop and ImageOptim (PS shaved down around 80%). PS does a great job, I just prefer not to open it just for that small task.
Is there a way for me to stream the audio from my mac to my PS3? I was thinking along the lines of the mac seeing the PS3 as a bluetooth speaker of sorts.
I use Photoshop to design. I Get inspiration from http://dribbble.com/ and a variety of other sites via Google search. http://subtlepatterns.com/ has some great patterns to inspire. I also occasionally browse http://www.woothemes.com/ and http://themeforest.net/ for inspiration. Awesome Screenshot http://awesomescreenshot.com/ to save web pages and annotate. I use Coda to code my HTML and CSS. I currently have no set system for testing browsers. I usually just run XP on VirtualBox with multiple...

This is a cross-post-question from this one I posted earlier about uploading image files imported with iPhoto to websites ( http://gdgt.com/question/how-do-i-upload-photos-th... ). What I gathered is that it's not possible without having to search for the individual files and copying them to a different folder. So I don't think I'll be using iPhoto. On the Windows side, I always used Picasa and I dabbled around with Adobe...

I always heard that iPhoto was a bit of a control freak when it came to photo management and I can see why it gained this reputation. I'm trying to upload a photo to 500px.com, not Facebook or any of the supported site iPhoto uploads to, using their normal upload tool on their site. I try to navigate to my iPhoto library through the file browser, but I can't open it because it's grayed out. One workaround: I did a search for the image file I was looking for and can copy/paste it to my desktop to...

I've been using Time Machine to do my backups for a couple of years now but I feel like there is something better and more flexible out there. I can't even create a bootable drive with Time Machine and I've heard of people being unable to restore from Time Machine backups in the past. Not looking at online backup (already rolling with Backblaze)
I have a friend's Mac Book that has stopped working. She ask if I can get the files off. The drive is good, but the system is dead. What is the best way to get the files off with a Windows PC? I have tried a Ubuntu Live CD, but the file folders are locked.
Is there any way to move the fields within Address Book up or down? I like to have order on my address book and it looks really bad when the phone number fields are all over the place.
is there any method to move menulets across the Apple Menubar? I know of the (Apple) Click trick, but it doesn't work for all apps. It's quite a pain really to reset everything on the menubar the hard way by timing it correctly using the Startup items in System Preferences.
Seems like when user switch platforms, it's always from Windows to Mac. It's probably due to the fact that there are more Windows users out there to convert, but there has to be some Mac to Windows users out there. So what made you switch? Aero shake?
I recently decided to try using some webclips in OS X's Dashboard to show me relevant data from various webpages on gdgt (ah hem, RP anyone?). Is there a way to change how often the webclip gets update? It's basically displayed the same thing all day (which is now wildly inaccurate). I know when Apple originally promoted this feature (hah, remember when they were excited about Dashboard?), they said people could use it to keep track of the weather, sports scores, etc. It sounds nice in theory....
