At the end of the day, the mini is destined to sit outside of Apple's public limelight like all the models that have come before it. It's the company's jack-of-all-trades, but a shining star for those in the know.

The latest update to Apple's diminutive desktop includes a faster processor, Apple's FusionDrive (which combines a hard drive and solid-state memory), and USB 3.0. PCMag calls the new mini "Apple's best yet" and says that it packs "much punch into its compact chassis as a full-size desktop." Macworld also likes the mini, and calls it a "capable system for most tasks" and says that the low-end model (which lacks the FusionDrive) is "an affordable option for anyone wanting the Mac experience without paying a high premium."
