I built a new gaming desktop and would love to use my cinema display instead of a crappy 19" I'm using right now.

Are there any converters out there that'll keep up with the demand of any game, or should I rather invest in a monitor?

Hey all – I've just got a 24" Apple Cinema Display off eBay, and all seems to be working except for sound over USB. I can see the USB display option in System Prefs, but no sound comes out when I've tried playing sound. I've connected my 11" Macbook air (2010) and a colleagues 13" Macbook Pro (2011) and both didn't work.... both running 10.6.7.... anyone experienced this?

What I want to know is if anyone settled with a more affordable, comparable alternative? If so, which? Or, should we just suck it up? Thanks.

There are a bunch of posts to the Apple Discussion forums about sound corruption after doing an OS update with the LED cinema display connected. My experience has been that after some use the sound coming through the LED display speakers will start to get choppy and then entirely quiet except for a couple chirps here and there. A company called Circuit Assembly is claiming that they will soon make adapters allowing this display to be usable with a DVI-equipped Mac Pro (or other machines, presumably). FYI.
