Apple's latest iPod touch is by far its best, but it's priced far out of impulse-buy territory.

The latest iPod touch comes in six colors, shares the iPhone 5's 4-inch Retina display, and includes a 5-megapixel, panorama-capable camera, Siri, Apple's new EarPod headphones, and iOS 6. It's astoundingly thin, light, and fast, has access to the full catalogue of App Store apps, and what do you know, it even does a great job at playing music. It's also $100 more than the previous model (though it has double the capacity), so if you're looking for a bargain and can get by with a smaller display, the 4th-gen touch is still a great deal.

The latest iPod Touch is the best iPod ever, and as close to a phoneless iPhone 5 as you can get -- but its high price makes it a tough call versus cheaper tablets with larger screens.
Read the full review →Price aside, whether you’re in it for the apps, games, or media, this is an iPod you’ll treasure. With its improved cameras, zippy performance, bright and roomy display, support for Siri, and more colorful and statuesque form, the fifth-generation iPod touch is a winner.

Read the full review →Apple's beautifully redesigned iPod touch is still the leading do-it-all MP3 player, but the new $300 entry-level price might make it a tough sell.
Read the full review →A bigger and sharper screen, great camera, and slim and colorful design make the iPod touch the best portable entertainment device money can buy.
Read the full review →Pricing issues aside, the new iPod touch is an excellent upgrade over the previous model; it's just too bad to see it priced out of that lucrative $200 "impulse buy" zone.
Read the full review →The new features and slick designs of these new iPods give the category a boost that makes them desirable devices rather than second-tier siblings to the iPhone.
Read the full review →Overall, I recommend the iPod touch as the ultimate MP3 player and a great mobile entertainment device for kids who aren’t ready for smartphones. For everyone else, I’d say buy it only if you’re not in the market for a new phone.
Read the full review →Apple’s newest iPod touch joins components from the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S, cobbling them together in a body that’s incredibly thin and light. New earphones and a new dock connector are both good and bad, but the overall package is an excellent one.
Read the full review →When it comes to a device to play music and video, you can't really ask for more than the iPod touch delivers. ... It's a bit of a cliché, but the iPod touch really is a fantastic little gadget
Read the full review →In most important respects, the new touch is just like the iPhone 5, without the phone. It has most of the great features, without the expense, especially the monthly plan.
Read the full review →The iPod Touch has pretty much all the features the iPhone has, except for the phone function and 3G. It's an excellent product with flawless sound quality, but the logic behind it is a bit hard to pin down. Given the price, most people will probably opt for an iPhone 5 instead.
Read the full review →As the years roll by, the iPod touch becomes a tougher sell, but that doesn't mean it's not a great gadget.
Read the full review →... it’s a very good device, but unless you’re really enthusiastic about the new colors, it would be a stretch to call its improvements as exciting as the flagship iPhone and iPad releases have been this year.
Read the full review →With upgrades to its power and display quality, the iPod Touch is still the most versatile media player around.
Read the full review →I got the black/slate, 32 GB version. The camera is pretty good and I love the panorama feature. I love that it comes with a flash. It is amazingly light and thin. It looks really sleek and awesome. The earbuds are nice and the wrist strap that you can attach to the back is very useful.
Read the full review →This is without a doubt the best iPod Apple has ever made. This thing is jam-packed to the brim with features, and the package it uses to convey those features is absolutely stunning. Go snag one up for a present, or like me, for yourself :)
Read the full review →This is a really great device. The hardware is beautiful--you want to hold this device. No longer does the patina scratch 30 seconds into owning the device--I love it. The camera is really nice with iPhone 5 features on the 4's camera. It could be better, but it is amazing for such a small...
Read the full review →Oh, This is like the very last Apple product I will ever purchase, build quality gets worse and worse with each new lineup release. I can't describe how disappointed I am with Apple. It's true they've stopped innovating with iPhone, iPad, iPod. Albeit the cloud works great, but it can't make up...
Read the full review →Hey, I'm sure that you've seen other reviews, but this is truly a great device, as they all have been (save the 3rd gen). I'm not going to go into much detail about that, but I'd just like to ask you to buy the red one and support PRODUCT(RED). They give money to support the end of HIV/AIDS....

The camera is great on the Touch -the same as the 4S's, and I'm loving life again having missed my iPhone 4 from my last job. Too bad for me...
