Apple's older iPod touch, which is still available and supported, is a great choice for watching movies, listening to music, and playing games. It's very thin and light, and with Wi-Fi, you can stream content anywhere you have an internet connection. The screen and camera aren't quite as great as what you'll get on the latest model, but with the 16GB version available for just $199, it's a good deal, especially if you're looking for an alternative to the iPhone for your on-the-go media needs. (If you're ready to upgrade to a 32GB model, however, get the newer model, since it's just $50 more than the 4th-gen's $249 price tag.)

What it is, however, is a product without a peer; a media player that does far more than media playing. Besides the smaller screen real estate, the touch might be better compared to a tablet or netbook -- it has many of the same functions (more, in some cases).

This is my second iPod Touch, previously I used the 3G. The screen on the 4G is a vast improvement over the decent 3G screen.
