The US Copyright Office in 2010, stated Jailbreaking iOS devices is legal. Now this exemption is running out. I would like to hear what you think about rooting or jailbreaking. I'm doing some research of my own and want any information, whether you oppose Jailbreaking/Rooting or you're in favor, I want to know. Please be as detailed as possible when replying, so that your comment is not misconstrued.

Remember when Apple used to charge for the OS updates for the iPod Touch?
I almost forgot that Apple charged $15 (or was it $20?) for OS updates for the Touches. Seemed really lame at the time, but even more so now that we expect these type of updates are expected to be free.
At what point did this change anyways?

Worst iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad cases?
This is a bit of a random question, but after seeing this over at engadget: http://www.strapya-world.com/products/45835.html I just had to ask: What is the worst case for an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad that you have seen or used?

Wrong category
The iPod touch should really be classified as a portable gaming device, as that's what it's good at. It's rather mediocre as a media player.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a good set of earbuds w/ inline mic that don't cost a fortune.
Had some Apple ones and wasn't blown away but need something I can use on phone (Nexus One) iPod touch and laptop for Skype/GMail phone/chat conversations.

I've been considering trying out more games on my iPod (touch 2nd-gen, running iOS 4), but I don't know much about the games in the App Store outside…
of the obvious favorites (Angry Birds, Rolando, Peggle), and even then, a lot of the most popular games seem to be casual and/or puzzle games. I own a Nintendo DS, and my favorite types of games to play are RPGs and adventure games. Series I've enjoyed include Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton (yeah, yeah, I know, puzzle games but I like the exploration aspect of it too), games made by CING (Trace Memory, Hotel Dusk) and occasionally Pokémon. I don't particularly enjoy...

We recently updated the software on my wife's ipod touch second gen to the latest build of ios 4.
Since the upgrade, we cannot install applications that support background audio, such as Pandora or Mog. I understand that multitasking support is not available for older devices, but I didn't expect it to make applications that worked before not work any more. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

What do you guys think Apple will add to the next generation iPhone, in terms of both hardware and software?
And aside from the Retina Display and the front-facing camera, do you see Apple changing the design of the current iPod touch to something more iPhone 4-like?

This device has saved me on numerous ocassions! As a student I find myself using the calender, task list apps, email, browser, and contact list often.
It's a great tag along and saves so much paper. Go green!

So I jailbroke my ipod touch - multitasking, themes, and all kinds of cool apps. The iTouch has sooo much potential, yet Apple ruins it. shame.

The iPhone OS 4.0 "limited" (read: crippled) version upgrade for the 2nd gen & earlier iPod Touch better be free.

I think it really stinks that multitasking won't work on the Ipod Touch 2G - that's what I have.
I hope someone comes up with a hack to enable it (likely) or that Apple will change their mind that it's not "capable" of doing it (unlikely). Anyway, I'm looking forward to iPhone OS 4.

Charge/sync dock that draws external power?
I'd like to find a dock that can charge the ipod through external power (doesn't need a computer connected to recharge), but will also sync to the computer when it is there. I sync to a laptop and don't always want to connect it long enough to fully charge. Any docks like that? I thought Griffin had one, but as I look through their products, I don't see one. None of the powerdocks that I see appear to sync to a computer.

Can I watch my NetFlicks on my Ipod Touch

It's a new gaming console!!
Heya, I really like the iPod Touch because it is an awesome gaming console! I've only had mine for a week and a half and I've stopped using my DS Lite! I have a friend who spent $300AUD on the DSi (back when it was new), and it can play music and play games and stuff but the iPod Touch (which is now $245AUD) can play music, videos, browse the internet MUCH more reliably and there's a TON of free games to download. DSi? PSP? The iPod Touch is my newest most favourite gaming console.

I am sick of apple and itunes.
I really like the itouch. That is, the device itself is great. What I am getting more and more mad about is itunes and apple in general. itunes completely ruins this gadget for me and I am ready to get rid of it. General use of the itunes program is horrible. It's slow, it won't sync things how I want, my itouch is locked into the one install on my main computer. I wanted to add some podcasts while I was at my moms house. No problem right? Just throw itunes on the laptop I had with me,...

iPod without iTunes?
The release of the PSP go has reminded me that a portable game device would be nice. The iPod touch seems to have a good collection of games of a sort that are better scaled for what I would want in a portable game device than the DS or the PSP. (I sold my PSP a while back) So I'm considering an iPod with the primary application of casual gaming, with the secondary applications of web browsing and playing podcasts. However I *hate* iTunes with a passion (quicktime too for that matter) and I...
