Have you used "Whited00r" on an old iOS device?
details
Apple (and many other hardware manufacturers) often leave their early adopters and those using older hardware behind when they push out new operating system updates. One particularly sore point is with mobile devices. Those still using the original iPhone or iPhone 3G cannot run the latest builds of iOS 4 (and soon, iOS 5). However, there is apparently an option for those of you yearning for new software. It's a custom firmware build called Whited00r. I've actually never heard of it until I just... Read more →

Do you keep your iDevices long enough to develop "beautiful" wear?
details
Last month's Wired magazine had a short piece by Steven Levy regarding the Smart Cover on the iPad 2 and the somewhat contentious relationship Apple has with accessory makers, and how the Smart Cover kind of 1-ups them. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/05/pr_levy_smar... But what stuck out at me the most in this piece was this quote from Steve Jobs: “I think stainless steel looks beautiful when it wears.” What Steve is referring to there is generally known as patina, which, while it... Hi, i'm wondering if somebody could help me with a project from scratch, i have the basic idea but I don't know what i need to buy, that's what I…
details
need YOUR help with Project: In our new there will be 3 rooms on the 3rd(top) floor, one big room with sofas and tv/projector where you can hang out and two slighly smaller rooms. I'm gonna live in one of the smaller rooms but I'm also responsible for the big room. SO...what I want to be able to do is: I'm gonna have a desktop-computer with (probably) a 20"-something screen in my own room. I wanna have speakers in my own room connected to that computer. In the big room... Read more →

32gigs. I'm not ready to trash it! It got wet; after a week in rice, it turns on, restores, iTunes can access it, etc.
details
, but the touchscreen won't work. It's stuck on the lock screen with the default waterdrop wallpaper and a ghost image of the photo I had as a lockscreen wallpaper. Think a new digitizer would restore it, or should I sell it so someone else can tinker and play with it? That it charges, is accessed by iTunes, etc., makes me think there's hope. Thoughts?

My 2nd gen 32Gb ipod touch took a dip in a canal. This was months ago and has been fully dried out.
details
I have taken it apart and cleaned both sides of the logic board with isopropanol. Basically everything works (before and after disassembly) except there is a streaky white backlit screen when I turn it on: - Speaker and headphone jack works - Receives email - I can take screenshots - Touchscreen works - even though I can't see it, I can unlock, change screens and launch apps (evidenced by screenshots) I don't think its the LCD as I plugged in a different LCD that I ordered and it also... I have both an iPod Nano (5th gen), and an iPod Touch (2nd gen), both 8GB.
details
I have them synced to the same single library on my MacBook Pro, with everything up to date. Recently (and just for fun), I looked at the number of songs on both iPods. My iPod Nano has 1,203 songs on it, but my iPod Touch has only 1,020. Again, they sync from the same library. I do have "sync only checked songs" selected on both (as my library is too big to fit). I have some free space on each (about 250-300 MB on each), so I see no reason as to why the song count would be different...

Severe lagging on 2nd gen Touch. Podcast menu glitches and stutters when scrolling.
details
Right after syncing I look up an artist to play and it says "updating library this may take several minutes" and it does! Severe lag and sometimes no response when pressing 'Home' button to wake up the Touch. Anyone else having this problem? I've heard flash memory can go bad over time. It gets used 10hrs. a day 6 day days a week. Is this my problem? Its not jailbroken nor has it gotten wet or dropped.

Temporary freeze ups with no apparent readings
details
I am encountering times when the Ipod stops accepting input from the screen and appears to be locked for several seconds before resuming normal operations. On occasion there is indication that there is data being transmitted through the wifi, but most of the time this is not the case. This did not happen when I first started using the Touch, but it is becoming more and more frequent. Is anyone else experiencing this, and is ther anything that can be done to stop it.
