Detailed review
I picked up the new Nano when my Touch died. The first things I noticed is how nice they look and how sharp their edges are. By sharp, I mean cut your hand open sharp, not good looking. The new menu interface looks nice though the cover flow thing is pretty annoying being that when plugged into my car, the nano is usually on its side but fortunately it can be turned off. I don't listen to the radio so the FM tuner was kind of a waste but I could see the use in a gym where you need to tune to a particular FM station to hear the TV. Having the video camera is a nice to have but really I can only see it being used for those crazy moments you rarely ever see but in reality, I probably won't use it much.
Before I go on about my big negatives on this, I first want to point out that I have owned about 7 ipods - 2 nano's, 2 1st gen touch's, 1 3g iphone, 2 2nd gen ipods, and 1 3rd gen ipod. I loved my original Nano which is what prompted me to get this one. After using the new Nano for a week, I found that the scroll wheel is WAAYY too small for anyone with larger hands. The scroll wheel is also not sensitive at all and doesn't recognize my finger half the time.
Apple also managed to make a charger that worked fine with every other ipod I have owned (sans the iphone) not work with the new Nano. The only other option is to plug into the headphone jack, which is fine if you remember to turn the volume down before putting your headphones in, or use my other car charger (with aux out) for the iphone which has a horrible amp in it therefore the sound out sucks (btw, if anyone know of a good one made by Belkin, let me know The Griffin ones have crappy amps).
Is it really so hard to make a standard charger/connector actually standard so I don't have to go buy new car accessories every frackin time you release something new?!?!
My advice, if you can a 4th or 2nd gen Nano, save your money and get it unless you absolutely need the radio or video camera, save your cash.
