I dropped mine down 4 flights of stairs and assumed it was dead. The screen was slightly cracked. I left it on my shelf for about 8 months when one day I was curious if I could retrieve the music that was on it. To my surprise it still worked perfectly! I could still make out what was on the majority of the screen. Good memories for when I originally got the device; after a big day out with the wife & some friends visiting in town. Great device; it worked beautifully and I used it constantly while i had it. The battery started giving me trouble after almost 2 years; I tried to replace it on my own and ended up breaking it in the process.
