Ive had this baby for 5 years and its still serving me daily plugged into my Alpine CDA-9856 Ipod port in the car. I should prolly replace the battery but its powered by the audio deck. Great product

3G Compact Flash drive conversion...
If anyone who wants to resurrect their 3g iPod with a compact flash card, the following website can help you out: http://www.ipodhackers.net/iPodHackers_3GProblems.... Compact Flash to 1.8" IDE adapters are available either through eBay or Deal Extreme. Show your 3g iPod some love by doing this conversion. It'll be well worth the time.

Still my favorite
This iPod is simply classic. Despite having 3 ipods newer than this one, the 3G just has a special place in my heart with is touchy-goodness. i just replaced the battery myself (buy.com for ~$5) last month and she still runs like a charm! (aside from only charging over firewire! lol) Love it. -Dr. Karl
