iPhone 4S vs Galaxy Nexus, or should I wait?
details
I'm looking to get a phone. Right now I'm torn between the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy Nexus. I know this question is asked a lot, but I'm really not sure which one benefits me more. On the one hand, I've used iPhones before (both my parents have one), I use iTunes for music, and at some point I'll probably get a Macbook, though I primarily use a custom-built PC dual-booting Windows 7 and OSX.
On the other, I use Gmail, Google Calendar, and Reader daily. My contacts are all saved with Google, and I... Read more →

Will Apple increase the size of the iPhone screen this year by making a larger device or by changing the aspect ratio ?
details
I love the iPhone but feel the screen size is too small. I have read that the retina display would be effected by simply increasing the size of the device and wonder whether making the screen taller (think another row of icons) would be something that Apple would consider doing. I feel the extra real estate would be useful, but would this be possible or likely and would it have a significant impact for iOS developers ?

Best iOS music apps to use in a car?
details
I like to mount my iPhone on my dashboard when I drive. Between my iTunes library and Spotify it's an infinitely better experience than what's offered on the radio. Problem is the UI for these apps is small and not well-suited to using while driving. I'd love to find an app that has nice big chunky buttons that are as intuitive as those on your car's stereo. Anyone have any recommendations?

Hacks / workarounds for Sparrow on iPhone's lack of push email support?
details
For the last fifteen years I've been something of an email client aficionado, and in the last few months I've become a huge fan of Sparrow. I don't change email clients often, and my expectations are really high. I have been eagerly anticipating Sparrow for iOS for months. It launched tonight, and it was well worth the wait -- except for one kind of major, potentially deal-breaking thing.
As you may have heard, and as I suspected might be the case, push support wasn't included. It's a sucky... Read more →

What to do about battery issues on the 4S?
details
My dad has been having battery issues with his Sprint 16GB 4S lasting only about 4 hours on a charge, even with every service (wifi, location services, push notifications, everything but Bluetooth) turned off. He took it to the Apple Store and they wiped the phone clean (factory reset, I believe) but this hasn't helped. What is the best way to get his phone fixed? Take it back to the Apple Store and insist on battery replacement or a new phone?

Am I the only one that finds iOS … dated? TL;DR:
details
I fully understand I will receive innumerable fan-[gender] of [iOS|Android] hate responses but I'm actually being serious. Money out of the picture, I've used iPhones on and off since they came out, but mainly Android (Nexus devices - N1, etc.) for the last few years and now I'm stuck between OSs and a hard place. I picked up a Nokia N9 running MeeGo (from Maemo, and now on to ... Tizen??) and …
With:
1) all the carriers locking down tethering on *unlocked* devices
2) my recent walking away from... Read more →

Is the iPad with cellular data really worth the cost?
details
I'm going to get the new iPad soon, but I'm struggling to decide whether or not to get the 4G version. The main obstacle is whether or not to total cost of the device would really be worth it.
I currently have a 1st-gen wifi-only iPad and an iPhone 4S with Personal Hotspot (and 4GB of data) on AT&T. Because the 4G iPad is $130 more than the wifi-only version, I want to make sure I would get my money's worth. If I were to get it, I would reduce my iPhone plan to 2GB per month without the... Movie/TV purchases missing from "Purchases" section of iTunes Store?
details
Has anyone else noticed that a lot of their movie/TV purchases are missing from the new Purchased section of the iTunes store? I have about 20 movies that I've accumulated in iTunes, mostly through the DVD+digital copy combos. Some of those movies appear in my purchases, but a lot do not. Of the ones that actually show up and have HD versions available, none have upgraded.

None of the TV shows I have purchased show up.

What gives?

Question on screen resolution for someone with web development experience for iOS
details
So we know that the iPhone 4 and 4S report their screen resolution as 320x480 (to ensure they get served mobile versions of website) even though their actual resolution is 640x960. How do websites respond to this and supply graphics at the right resolution?
I was imagining reading a webcomic, let's say Penny Arcade, on an iPad 3. Penny Arcade comics are 800x400 pixels. If the iPad reports its resolution as 1024x768, then an 800px-wide comic is an appropriate size. However, wouldn't this make it... Read more →

Is it better to charge your iPhone on a newer computer rather than a wall outlet?
details
I just recently bought a 27" iMac, and instead of charging my 4S on the wall outlet and syncing over wifi (as I was doing previously), I decided to put my iPhone dock on the desk and charge it on there overnight. Since then, I've noticed that the battery in my 4S has longer life. This has been true for about the last four days, and I am using my iPhone as much as before. Is it possible it's just better to charge on the iMac? Why would that be true?

iOS 5 changed my messaging to email only!
details
So I upgraded my iPhone 4 to the new iOS5, thus upgrading my texting to the iMessaging features. For whatever reason, in the upgrade, the iMessaging didn't update my phone number, so whenever I text people, it ONLY shows my email address, not my phone number. I tried to add my number, but there's no option in "SETTINGS" to do so. How can I add my number so people actually know whos texting them?
