Detailed review
If you like the 3G, you'll like the 3GS. Having owned both, I notice a significant improvement in loading times of all my apps. In my non-scientific side by side tests (against a newly upgraded to 3.0 firmware 3G) the 3GS blew it out of the water in load times. No comparison.
Despite what others have been reporting, I am noticing a much snappier browsing experience, which I think has to be attributed to the faster processor, since they have not updated the towers in my area.
The camera works much better and I have really enjoyed tapping to autofocus. While I rarely used the camera on my 3G, I find myself snapping pictures all the time with my 3GS and the ability to shoot videos is pretty nice too. If only I could set a video as my lock screen...
If you have a 3G and are thinking about the upgrade, it's a no-brainer if you can afford it. I was lucky enough to get a decent price for my 3G on eBay, which helped subsidize the cost, but however you justify it, you won't be disappointed with the new device.
For those of you thinking of joining the iphone camp, the faster hardware makes it worth the extra $100, but if you can hold onto your phone for another year, I imagine that next June we will see a more revolutionary upgrade come to the iphone line that might be worth the wait.
