The US Copyright Office in 2010, stated Jailbreaking iOS devices is legal. Now this exemption is running out. I would like to hear what you think about rooting or jailbreaking. I'm doing some research of my own and want any information, whether you oppose Jailbreaking/Rooting or you're in favor, I want to know. Please be as detailed as possible when replying, so that your comment is not misconstrued.

Worst iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad cases?
This is a bit of a random question, but after seeing this over at engadget: http://www.strapya-world.com/products/45835.html I just had to ask: What is the worst case for an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad that you have seen or used?

How to disable voicemail on AT&T (with an iPhone).
If you're anything like me, you're no fan of voicemail. Well, I've finally killed mine, and if you're an AT&T user (specifically of the iPhone) here's how you can do the same, and what you can expect. First up, you're going to have to call AT&T. That sucks, I know, but from what I learned it appears that iPhone voicemail is bound to your data plan, so it can't be easily removed with a mobile dial code (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_dial_code )....

I have an iPhone 3G but I really want to switch to android as I don't like the iPhone or at&t. I can switch to Verizon and get a new phone whenever I want.
Does it make sense to get the droid x or the fascinate now, or wait until early 2011 to see the new dual core/LTE phones? How long before dual core/LTE android phones come for Verizon?

I think it's complete madness that it is easier to install Froyo on my iPhone than it is to even get Froyo on a real Android device.
The fact that some devices newer than the iPhone 3G still don't have Android 2.2 is just strange.

iOS 4 and even 4.1 on this phone is a total nightmare. Even Apple's standard apps are slow and jerky for me now in ways that they weren't on 3.2.
For example: playing music on the iPhone 3G, especially podcasts and iTunes U content, but music too, and an e-mail arrives and the music skips for several seconds before, during, and after the e-mail arrival sound plays. There are dozens of other complaints I have about the phone now that I'm on iOS 4 and can't go back. Does anyone know of legal action against Apple for this forced update that broke my phone? Do you have the same problems (or others) since getting iOS 4?

Okay I'm thinking about dual boot installing Android 2.2 using iPhoDroid. Has anyone had experience with this? How is battery life and overall performance?
From what I hear, it's still pretty slow and battery life is miserable. Is the whole thing just for "oh i have android on my iphone" or is it actually a viable Android device?

What are your favorite photography apps on the iPhone?
Since I've had my iPhone 4, I've noticed that I've been using my other cameras less and less. My poor Nikon D300 and even my S90 remain either at home or in my bag. It's simply easier to pull a phone out of my pocket and take a quick snap. Especially now that the quality of pictures (at least in decently lit to well lit settings) are pretty good! I've been playing with *a lot* of iOS camera applications. I'd be willing to wager that I have more photography apps on...

Would it be worth it to trade my iPhone 3G for an HD2 on Craigslist? Do any of you guys know how well the Android 2.2 port works on the phone?
I love the hardware but WinMo 6.5 is a drag...

How Apple dodged a bullet
Also published in the gdgt newsletter, sign up at http://gdgt.com/newsletter/ Five years ago there was plenty of speculation that Apple was working on what turned out to be the iPhone, but what a lot of people have forgotten is that there were also reports that they were going to create their own Apple-branded wireless network. Or more specifically, that they were in talks with Cingular (now AT&T) to lease network capacity and become what’s known as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator, or MVNO...

In prep for getting my iPhone 4 next week, I thought I'd jailbreak/unlock my phone so that it'd go for more on eBay.
I've never done this before and now that it's jailbroken, I'm not sure I want to give it up. :) Being able to tweek UI elements on the iPhone, add useful information to the lock screen, showing toggles for wifi with the swipe of a finger... this is what I wanted from the iPhone when I bought it. I am really enjoying the jailbroken phone. What are others thoughts on this? I haven't jailbroken the phone because I thought it was "bad" and now that I did, I'm...

What does your home screen currently look like?
Here's mine, using iOS 4 on an iPhone 3GS: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rockbandit/4685494577... I probably use Twitter the most. Google Reader is another thing (webpage only) that I constantly use. Settings are in the dock since I'm always tinkering with things (brightness, wifi connections, etc). Anyway, share what you have and why!

I can definitely see why people are excited about AT&T's new clearly defined data plans, but there's one bit I find very incongruous and glaring: the…
tethering component. Let me explain. It seems that the crux of these new plans is around data consumption: AT&T is breaking the mold a bit here (for better or worse) by clearly defining rate vs. consumption. Right now, on most mobile carriers -- like AT&T -- you pay $30-60 for "unlimited" data with a hidden cap, usually 5GB, which if you exceed costs dollars per MB. Not clear, not consumer-friendly, and a great way to rack up hidden charges if you're a super heavy data user. With...
