Lion, iOS, iCloud. Who's excited? Biggest Surprises/Disappointments?
details
Just curious to see how everybody was feeling post WWDC keynote. Here are my thoughts: Lion: - No real surprises here besides the price, right? Sign me up! iOS 5: - I was expecting the notifications update to iOS 5 but was pleasantly surprised to see them do something more useful with the lock screen. - The biggest surprise for me was the physical button option for the camera. Never thought Apple would give up that fight. - Wireless activation/syncing is huge - I don't use voice lots, but do... Read more →

What is your iOS 5 wishlist?
details
Just figured I'd throw this out there with next week's announcement creeping up on us. Now that we know Jobs and crew will be out on Monday to discuss iOS 5, what is your wish list? Mine is as follows: 1. New Notification System 2. Interdevice communication (iPhone, iPad, Mac) similar to what HP is planning to do with WebOS 3. Widgets - I know what you're thinking. Widgets aren't that great, but as an iPhone and Android user, I can tell you that while most of what's out there is worthless, there... Read more →

Which is the best option for an ordinary person when it comes to Android-based tablets?
details
I was in the Best Buy store the other day and I was playing around with a whole bunch of different tablets, and I found that many of them were not that straight-forward to use. I could really see some of my not-so-technical / non-technical friends picking up the Motorola Xoom and just being unable to navigate it. This prompted me to begin to think about all of the options out there that aren't the iPad, and honestly how usable they are. I mean, let's be honest, out of all the tablets, the iPad... Read more →

Kindle vs. iBooks vs. Stanza: Do you have a preferred reading app on the iPad
details
There a number of ebook apps currently available for iOS -- which ones have you tried and which do you prefer? Despite Apple's entrance into the world of ebooks, I still find myself using Kindle for most of my reading. It syncs my reading location on any device (iPad, iPhone, computer, Android tablet) with zero effort and works on every platform I use. About the only thing I find myself using iBooks for is PDFs or the random ePub. No offense to Apple, but if I'm purchasing ebooks, I want to be... Read more →

Are there any good, preferably free, gchat apps for the iPad with push notifications?
details
If not native for iPad, a blown-up iPhone version would work as well. I've been spoiled by Google making official apps for Android and iOS is severely lacking on this. UPDATE: So I installed both IM+ (free version) and IMO, both get the job done very well. I think that IM+ looks nicer, but IMO doesn't have a banner ad on the free version -- not sure if there's a paid version. I think I'm going to be sticking with IM+ because of the prettiness factor, yes I'm shallow, and I can live with the...

What's the best PDF markup app?
details
I read a lot of PDFs for school, and I'm looking for the best app that will let me mark them up with highlights and text notes. What's the best? Free is preferred, but a couple of dollars is also OK with me. I currently use "pdf-notes," but I really want the text note feature. Ideally, the app would let me turn on/off highlights and continue to edit notes on PC in the official Adobe Reader application.

So now that we're getting comfortable using our tablets day to day, I'm curious; do you like to use your tablet in landscape or portrait?
details
This may seem a silly question, but I think it's an important question to consider for the designers of these devices. Regardless of what the manufacturer says, I've yet to use a truly agnostic device. As much as I love the amount of info I can see in portrait, landscape seems to be more comfortable for me. Thoughts?

I found an article today that really bugged the heck out of me. Below is the link and the comment I left.

I was just wondering what you guys thought about this supposed outcome. Has Android really already lost? http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/mowi/article.php/... "I'm confused. Wasn't Symbian once thought as the only ruler in the smartphone OS world? How's that working out for them now? The tablet market is still very new and has a lot of room to grow. Sure, the Motorola XOOM did bad in sales, and Android 3.0... Read more →

HBO Go Streaming app coming to mobile devices for those w/ premium Cable subscription. How much would you pay for à la carte access?
details
This is pretty awesome news. HBO will be bringing their HBO Go streaming app to mobile devices in the near future (both Android and iOS). This means, that anyone who already has a premium Cable subscription (that is, they're already paying for HBO), will be able to watch any episode from their favorite HBO shows (The Wire, Sopranos, Treme, etc). Umm, this is awesome! My question is, if there were some way for HBO to offer this à la carte style, where you pay them a subscription fee,...
