Here it is. Lots of debate in comments about the validity of this device -- and of my conclusions about it. Got any questions? http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/30/apple-ipad-mini...
I have an iPad 2 in fantastic condition, but the Apple geek inside of me wants something new. If i sell my 2 on eBay, it won't really cost me anything to make the jump. Is the jump worth it? Will I yearn for a bigger screen? What do you guys think?
What's with the hyperbole in the email that just came out? iPad mini - lower screen resolution and lower processor specs with a higher price. How is this setting a new standard. Don't get me wrong, I own an iPad v2 (and plan on upgrading to the new iPad as soon as it's available) and I have a Nexus 7. I find myself grabbing the Nexus 7 more often than the iPad. gdgt - I didn't realize you were such a fanboy - thought you took a more level thoughtful at analyzing products.
With other budget and small tablets starting at $199 upto $ 250-300. ipad mini starting at $ 329 with low ppi, something which Apple has always shown as its USP disappoints. another thing is a lower resolution compared with Google Nexus 7 Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD.
Is what the pundits will say. I can't wait to hear about how apple reinvented the 7" tablet market while aggressively innovating by releasing the ipad4 six months after the ipad3 came out. Look for the ipad mini HD in 6 months.
The ipad mini is like a nexus 7....with a lower res screen.....and slower processor....and slower gpu.....and half the storage.....for $100 more....WINNING!
As with all Apple events, I immediately wanted the new iPad mini, but after the initial adrenaline rush wears off (as happens with all of these), I realize I think I'd rather have an iPhone 5, even with the service contract, than an iPad mini. I have my iPad 3, and can't figure out when I'd pull out the mini over the iPad 3.
Overpriced for the screen quality. However I had a nexus 7 and didn't enjoy it as much as I thought because of the App situation, which won't be an issue on the iPad Mini. I won't buy the iPad Mini however due to lack of retina. Guess I'm still waiting for a good around 7 inch tablet... maybe Google will have an answer next week?
$350 price tag with no Retina display?
They screwed this up.
Shitty thing is...
That people will ASSUME *the average joe* that there's a gorgeous Retina, and its the greatest new product ever. Guarantee it.
