At least if Apple's previous development cycles for their iOS releases are anything to go by (~every 2 weeks until ship date). I'd say look for it to drop on Wednesday! Have you been using iOS 4.2 on your iPad yet? What have you thought after using it for the past week?

Samsung's Galaxy Tab pricing problem
Originally published in the gdgt newsletter, sign up at http://gdgt.com/newsletter/ Samsung has done a pretty good job so far of positioning the recently-unveiled Galaxy Tab as not just the best Android tablet around, but as what is probably the most attractive alternative to the iPad -- or at least until HP / Palm roll out the PalmPad sometime next year. I haven't spent enough hands-on time with the Galaxy Tab to know for sure whether I want to buy one, but at the moment I'm leaning...

My iPad running iOS 4.2 beta no longer connects / tethers to MyWi hotspot on jailbroken iPhone 4.
After upgrading my iPad to the iOS 4.2 beta (which I'm mostly loving, by the way), I've noticed that I can no longer tether it to my iPhone using the wifi hotspot abilities of MyWi. The iPad can connect to any other wifi networks without problem (open, closed, WEP / WPA / WPA2 keys needed). But it won't connect to MyWi no matter how many times I reset or reboot both devices. Purely a buggy coincidence or nefarious Apple conspiracy at play?

This is awesome, Google says that you'll finally be able to edit Google Docs on Android devices and the iPad:
"today we demonstrated new mobile editing capabilities for Google Docs on the Android platform and the iPad. In the next few weeks, co-workers around the world will soon be able to co-edit files simultaneously from an even wider array of devices." http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/three-milli...

iOS 4.2 for iPad is finally out in beta!
I'm extremely excited to get this going on the iPad, which is in desperate need of iOS 4's various improvements (namely fast app switching, multitasking, and unified inbox). If you've also got access to the beta, post up your experiences and first impressions with iOS 4.2 on the iPad here! (I'll definitely be doing so when I get home later today.)

Video with "holographic" effect created using an iPad
Just saw this posted on Gizmodo -- it's a pretty wild and trippy use of the iPad (in theory, one could use any tablet) to create a hologram in a stop motion video. If you have a few minutes, check out the video. It's wild! Article: http://gizmodo.com/5637776/watch-how-this-hologram... Video: http://vimeo.com/14958082

Ok, so my prediction that "fall" for the iPad's iOS4 update really meant "September" is a fail.
Apple is apparently following the more-standard approach of "fall" meaning "nearly winter" :-). While wireless printing is a huge plus for the new release, I didn't see much in the way of multitasking, folder, etc. support that would explain why it is taking 5 months for Apple to make this update for the iPad. I guess I was expecting some real innovation that took better advantage of the iPad's larger screen, rather than just following the same interface paradigms...

i bought the 32gb 3G. I have read probably 6 books on it, both iBooks and Amazon. News apps, travel tools and Reeder are most used apps after books.
Games are ok, but they get old fast. Biggest surprise is how little I use 3G, even when traveling. Lots more Wifi around than I thought, and this thing sips MB. Netflix is cool, but gets old looking DOWN to see a show. Check out my beef about Amazon Kindle app: http://tinyurl.com/2fpou4z (posterous)

Of the things (potentially) being launched tomorrow, I'm probably most excited about finally getting iOS 4 on the iPad.
After using iOS 4 on my iPhones for the past few months, having been stuck with iOS 3 on the iPad has been a real bummer -- and being that Apple promised iOS 4 for iPad for fall, and this is undoubtedly the event where we'll find out when we'll be getting it (and what they've done to optimize it for the tablet experience).

With the Apple September Event looming, is anyone else hoping for iOS4 for iPad as much as I am?

I have started using an iPad for work purposes and I find it constrictive, especially now that I'm used to an Android phone.
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

If the the 7 inch iPad has the Retina Display I would be interested. The iPad is my travel companion currently and works great!

7 inch iPad will be revolutionary.
I'd be the first one online for a smaller iPad with the addition of these features; 1. High resolution display, something equivalent to the retina display on the iPhone 4. 2. Front facing camera with face time compatability. 3. Built in USB port and sd slot. 4. Slighty faster processor After using the nook, and other smaller devices 7" feels like the magic spot. It's perfect for portability, better for reading and great for browsing the web. The day it's announced my wife...
What ever happened to that video chatting device for the iPad. Does anybody know more information. Hoping to get one soon!

Can somebody recommend an iOS and/or Android app that aggregates pictures from your various online service accounts so you can view them in one gallery/app?
Preferably without compromising the accounts themselves (giving my Facebook/google password to a random dev is not really cool in my book). The default gallery on my Nexus One aggregates multiple google/Picasa accounts, but that's it. No Facebook. iOS is worse, as the default photo app only shows the local pictures. Do I have to wait for Winpho7?

The geniuses at the iPhone-Dev team just released the new jailbreak for iOS4/4.0.1 devices via a Safari, so this is a non-tethered jailbreak. Pretty convenient.
I can confirm that this works on my 3GS, just jailbroke my 3GS running iOS 4.0.1 now. Apple should probably address those Safari security flaws at some point. I will keep testing to see how it goes. This is supposed to work on the iPhone 4 as well. Be warned, it's possible you might brick your phone and oh, back up your device. The servers are being hammered right now, so I'd wait it out a bit for the flood to get theirs in....

I'm a sucker I guess when it comes to the iPad. When it was 1st announced I knew it was all about size and usability.
It exceeds my expectations in a profound way. I'm ecstatic to be an early adopter although this product seems to already be mainstream.
Hey gdgt community, I'm working on a post for my tech blog about my expectations for iPad iOS 4, but I don't know how much my single input counts.
So I am reaching out to the community in the best way I can for input. What do you guys think and expect to find in iPad iOS 4? I have one HUGE idea, but that will be shown in my post. I'm really looking forward to what you guys think!
