I'm surprised to see that no one has created an entry for it in the database. I suppose the 8000 want its are mostly people wanting version 2. After all, who is really still wanting version 1 right now, even if the upgrade is only a slight improvement. Some people might settle for version 1, even though they really want version 2, particularly since the entry level version 1 will remain, and most expect it to drop to $400. Some hope it will drop to $300, but I wouldn't bet on that....

Interesting: iBooks can actually sync the reading position of ePub files you downloaded between multiple devices.
This was pleasantly surprising to me, since I'm using a random ePub file I downloaded off the web. Import it into iTunes and do an initial sync to get it on my iPad and iPhone. From there, it wirelessly syncs the reading position between my 2 devices without any hassle! I'd expect this for something like the Kindle, iBooks, or any other ebooks you pay for, but not for free downloads and imports. Nice! One thing I haven't checked yet -- I wonder if it syncs reading position for PDF...

yesterday was the first day noted that the ipad suddenly became unstable
first I noticed the sizing of the top tool bar was outside the screen frame just to start being annoying then all my best apps started crashing one after the other until the apple logo appeared so's I then do a reboot that seems to fix the crashes but the screen sizing seems to have a kink in it and twitches now and then...

Apple seems to have no fear of any upcoming tablets based on Tim Cook's comments yesterday.
I can't say I disagree with his comments in regards to Windows but I'm on the fence with the Android comments. On one hand he is correct, the next generation of Android tablets are technically non-existent until there is a price and date but to completely dismiss them is another. Although this was an earnings meeting so you want to say things to get people happy.

Will you upgrade to the iPad 2-3G model? Or just the Wi-Fi one?
Now that Apple is releasing iOS 4.3, I think the iPad 3G is kinda pointless. What do you think? Greetings.

Alright, the new gestures in 4.3 are impressive, but they really show the limitations of Apple's current multitasking implementation.
Swiping 4 fingers to switch between apps is fast and simple, the only problem is that it takes several seconds for apps to become responsive after switching to them. Obviously if it was true multitasking these apps would already be running and would instantly be ready for interaction. I respect Apple's decision to handle multitasking as they have, it keeps the devices speedy for the most part and negates the need for a task manager. If I am not mistaken the current implementation merely...

Apple is bringing rotation lock (back) to the side / mute switch, it's looking official! The brand new iOS 4.
3 beta build includes the option (which as you might recall was the default functionality for that switch when the iPad launched). Best news I've heard since, um, Apple announced the CDMA iPhone for Verizon. http://www.macstories.net/ipad/apple-brings-hardwa...

Too many tablets?
*** This post originally appeared in the gdgt weekly newsletter. Sign up here: http://gdgt.com/newsletter/ *** Yes, a ridiculous number of tablets were announced at CES last week. We highlighted a bunch of them in last week's email, and even those were just scratching the surface. It can be a bit overwhelming, but I actually think this flood of tablets -- even if many of them are undifferentiated offerings that look like they were rushed out the door for a trade show -- is a good thing....

As Verizon announces the Iphone 4 in their impressive family of smartphones, I piggyback and push the envelope on gizmodo's article stating that you should…
not buy the Verizon Iphone. http://gizmodo.com/5729273/dont-buy-the-verizon-ip... 4 iterations into the product lifecycle, it is much more predictable that there will be an Iphone 5 or '4G' this summer, so buying this one will only invalidate you from getting the new one. On the subject of the new Iphone, I really hope they plan to make peripherals similar to the Motorola Atrix. Years ago I thought this was achievable, and with the already minimalist aspect and...

Top 4 things I hope the next iPad has:
1) Front facing camera a must. If the current version had that I would have had one by now. I want it for video conferencing. I honestly don't care if it has a camera on the back of it. I'm not going to start taking pictures with it. 2) Maybe a SD slot. Apple doesn't have a very good visible file system for iOS devices, do they? I mean none of the other iOS devices really have a "copy to memory card" feature. The only thing I would really want something like this is to...

I just got an iPad. I want to know if anyone knows how I can hook it up wirelessly to my HP printer which is attached to my router.
I run a Windows shop at home and so far this seems to be an issue. I can't seem to find any apps that make this possible. Any help would be appreciated.

My iPad 2nd-gen wishlist: a little thinner, way lighter. Really, that's it.
There's been much ado about the next iPad getting front / rear-facing cameras (highly likely), a Retina display (see http://gdgt.com/discuss/if-ipad-2nd-gen-gets-retin... on why that's not happening), a built-in SD card slot (doubtful), and plenty of other stuff. That stuff would be nice, and I certainly wouldn't mind some more RAM and the usual annual processor upgrade (which are a given anyway). But what I'd REALLY like to see in the next iPad is a reduction in...

"Gorilla arm" -- an interesting iPad keyboard and keyboard case dilemma:
The biggest problem with these iPad keyboards and keyboard cases is that you're prone to having "gorilla arm." That is, if you need to do any sort of interaction with your iPad (besides typing -- say, changing apps, selecting text, selecting an option from an in-app modal), you actually have to reach out and physically touch the screen. It's a potentially tiring type of motion. It's especially perplexing, since this is something that Steve Jobs has specifically mentioned...

Do you want / need increased storage capacities on your iPhone / iPods touch (or any mobile device for that matter)?
I was just reading an article on TUAW about the "call for more storage space on iOS devices." Currently, the maximum capacity you can get on an iPhone is 32GB and 64GB on an iPod touch. If Apple were to double both of these amounts, (64GB on iPhone, 128GB on iPod touch, let's say max of 128GB on iPad), would this be something you'd be able to utilize? As far as my personal use goes, I've had 32GB iPhones for the past two years. Currently, I have 8GB free on my iPhone and...

4.2 works fine. Haven't had much use for the camera connector except to connect cameras, so I have no complaints about any changes in that regard.
It is the living-dining room computer at home and a media player at lunch time at work. Air Video Server is a great app and Air Display is an interesting program because it becomes a remote control for my iMac when the display setting is "mirror".
by Cindcat
After downloading new 4.2 upgrade, my ipad keeps crashing. What, if anything, can I do short of uninstalling upgrade? And will that even help?
I've tried turning my ipad off and back on. it did help, but not altogether back to normal.

Richard Branson's Project Magazine for iPad is now out.
Have you downloaded it yet? The reader application is free and monthly issues will apparently cost about $2.99 USD. So far, the reviews have been less than stellar. What do you think? Is this the future of magazines and content on the web? Source: http://www.projectmag.com/

Kinect is selling 2X faster than iPad:
Microsoft released some pretty impressive figures today. The Kinect has sold 2.5 million units only 25 days after its release! For comparison, it took the iPad 60 days to hit that mark. Do you have a Kinect yet? Planning on getting one? Source: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/kinect_is_sel...

I'm thinking about getting either an ipad or an iPod touch next friday. Wich one should I get?
I'm a iPhone 3G user but I'm done with two year contracts so the idea is to buy a contract less iOS device so I can use all my apps. I know that Apple may be releasing a new iPad soon but I'm atracted to the big screen and some cool apps. The think that I like about the iTouch is the size, price and video camera . They're are tied for me in my mind. I need other opinions.
