The new iPad doesn't do anything substantially better or particularly different than the iPad 2, offering the same rich world of content as before. But, it's the amazingly high quality window into that world the new iPad offers that is completely unmatched -- for the moment.

Conclusion: We like it
Apple's third-generation iPad has a beautiful new Retina Display that smokes the resolution on the HDTV in your living room, a camera that shames the competition, and optional next-generation mobile broadband that's faster than most home connections. While it's been replaced by the fourth-generation model, if you find one of these on sale at a reasonable price, go ahead and buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Features and technical aspects aside, how does the new iPad feel? Amazing. It’s the best device out there, made even better. And it’s the same price as it previously was. There’s really nothing not to like beyond a few minor nitpicks.

Read the full review →With a host of improvements--faster graphics, 4G wireless options, a better camera, and a gorgeous high-res screen--the latest iPad cements its position at the head of the tablet pack.
Read the full review →The third-gen Apple iPad redefines the tablet market, and raises the bar impossibly high for the competition.
Read the full review →Simply pick up, swipe, and you’re immersed in a joined-up ecosystem. Apple doesn’t need another revolution, it has already started one, and the new iPad brings a fresh degree of refinement to a segment in which it is undoubtedly the king.
Read the full review →The iPad 3 puts Apple a mile ahead of anything we've seen from Android tablets. The interface is unchanged. But all sorts of incremental details – especially the screen, but also the camera capability and so the graphics heft, and the mobile broadband capability – have been ratcheted up.
Read the full review →Thanks to its technical advances, the new iPad is easily the best container yet for iPad apps. For now, and maybe for the foreseeable future, it stands alone.
Read the full review →Apple's new iPad is the best tablet money can buy, thanks to winning software and a killer app selection. The new screen, camera and processor are welcome additions, though they're modest improvements compared to the still compelling iPad 2.
Read the full review →If you have been holding off getting a tablet then this is the one to go for. In my view, it's the best that money can buy. Existing iPad owners who are thinking of upgrading should take a look at this new device. You'll see the difference very, very clearly indeed.
Read the full review →The retina display is amazing, everything in the UI feels faster, and the price points remain the same. What’s not to love? It’s that simple.
Read the full review →Let’s get right to the point: If you don’t already have an iPad, chances are you’ll be very happy with the third-generation model that goes on sale Friday. If you already have an iPad 2, there’s little need to upgrade.
Read the full review →If you've got an iPad 2, or don't really care about visuals, then you should stick with the now much cheaper pad. But we recommend you probably don't look at the upgraded model – once you've gazed adoringly into the Retina Display... you'll struggle to not hate any tablet that isn't the new iPad...
Read the full review →The iPad represents the future direction of technology, I believe, more so than any other Apple product available. It is the high-tech made simple, potent and distilled into a simple slab of metal and glass, designed to become the tool you need when you need it.
Read the full review →If you already own an iPad or you weren’t interested in one before, the changes may not be enough to inspire a purchase, but for others, the new iPad is the best yet and is worthy of your consideration.
Read the full review →So, what did I like about the iPad? Simple — the experience. Nobody in the market today can touch the Apple experience.
Read the full review →In either case, the iPad is a great buy, especially for gamers, for readers, and for anyone who wants to show off pictures of their art, their kids, or their kid’s art. It blows the competition away, with the exception of, again, Apple’s own iPad 2, but that’s just fine.

Read the full review →A solid evolution of the iPad product line which may disappoint some due to the lack of external design changes. The internal improvements are impressive though and the camera, and more so the screen very much impress.

Should you opt for the new iPad rather than the discounted $399 iPad 2? From our brief experience with the new Retina Display, it’s hard to imagine going back to less pixel-dense panels.
Read the full preview →The iPad 3 was the pinnacle of innovation when it was released. It has an amazing retina display, long battery life, and much more. It is very fast and only a bit heavier than then the iPad 2. The iPad 4 is basically the same thing, with very few improvements.
