I have a MacPro OSX10.8.2 and a iPad2 ios6. I have problem to control the mac from the iPad. I have tried several vnc clients without success, some of which worked before I upgraded to mountain lion. hope someone can help. erik
It's well-established by now that Amazon doesn't make any money from selling tablets. Instead their model is to break-even on the hardware and make money by selling access to content and services (which is partly why we described the Kindle Fire HD as being more of a "content appliance" than a proper tablet). While it's a different approach than that of pretty much every other hardware maker, it is a relatively straightforward strategy. However I think there's an even more subtle aspect to it...

Choosing a smartphone/tablet case SUCKS! It is probably the most difficult tech-product to choose. Which is gdgt's goal: helping people choose the gadget or product that is best suited for them. So, I think you should make a "Cases" category, which will be divided into sub-categories, for each device. Of course, only the popular devices, like the iPhone 4/4S, iPad 2/new iPad, Samsung Galaxy S III, another Android device (HTC One X, for example)...
Samsung was handed a victory this week in its ongoing patent dispute with Apple -- sort of. A UK judge, declaring that Samsung Galaxy Tabs aren't iPad knockoffs, justified his ruling by saying that the Tabs couldn't possibly be confused for iPads, as they just aren't as cool as the Apple product. As reported by Bloomberg: The design for three Galaxy tablets doesn’t infringe Apple’s registered design, Judge Colin Birss said today in London in a court fight between the world’s two biggest...

A couple months ago I posted a question asking for suggestions on the best capacitive pen / stylus for iPad. The consensus seemed to be that Adonit's Jot products were worth checking out: http://gdgt.com/question/what-s-the-best-capacitive-pen-stylus-for-ipad-17rn/ I've been playing around with them and I can definitely tell you they pretty much nail exactly what I was looking for: light, easy to hold and grip, excellent for everything from basic use to fine detail work, and (thanks to the clear...

Asked by The Daily Telegraph which one Apple product he would like to be remembered by, Apple head of design Sir Jony Ive replied : “It’s a really tough one. A lot does seem to come back to the fact that what we’re working on now feels like the most important and the best work we’ve done, and so it would be what we’re working on right now, which of course I can’t tell you about.” What could Sir Jony and Apple be possibly working on? Share your ideas with the gdgt community here! You...

Been thinking about posting a thread like this every once in a while to check in on the latest in apps. So tell us, what are your favorite iOS apps these days? Here's how to post an app:
Check to see if the app you'd like to post is already posted. If so, just vote it up! No need to re-post it.
If it's not already up, post it alone (i.e. one app per post) for others to vote up. Feel free to explain why you like it so much, favorite features, etc.! Oh, and post a link if possible!
One industry expert thinks Apple is about to launch its own mobile service, and cut out those pesky carriers and their bothersome contract terms. Of course, in order to do so, Apple would still need to cut deals with carriers to operate on their networks, becoming a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), much like Virgin Mobile, which runs on Sprint's network in the US. Still, being a carrier, even a virtual one, would allow Apple to do things like sell data plans via the iTunes store, and more...

I currently own the 3G iPad 2 and have been amazingly impressed with just how useful I have found the device. With most of the new features on the "new iPad" being minor changes or simple refresh updates, I am wondering who here on gdgt is planning on upgrading to the "new iPad" even though they may currently own an iPad 2 already. If you are planning on upgrading, let us know what pushed you to do so.
Using the iPad2 with Control4 Home Automation System is so simple a Cave Man could use it! Control your media room, dim the lights, stream music into any room in your home and much more.
Today's Apple rumor is that they're going to be abandoning the 30-pin dock connector that's been on iPods, iPhones, and iPads for years now, in favor of a smaller connector. Personally I think it certainly makes sense, though I'm sure there will be a few people who are upset or frustrated that the accessories they've invested in might not work (though presumably there would be some kind of an adapter). Those ports have stayed the same size -- while iPods and iPhones have gotten smaller -- and at...

Earlier this week Apple announced the arrival of their new OSX build called Mountain Lion. One of their heralded new features was the introduction of iMessage to the desktop platform with the idea being simple: 1 conversation continued across any of Apple's hardware be it iPod touch, iPad, or iPhone, with iMessage you will never stop the conversation. I myself downloaded the beta of iMessage and tested this out first hand, I had my iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro in front of me as I carried on in...

Article is here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204795304577222354104574994.html if they do this, and price it right, it would help them gain even more marke share in the tablet market. They have a lot to compete with in the lower priced market since the Fire came out. They are still wining the tablet market overall but with two budget friendly devices (Fire and Nook Tablet) picking up a bit of steam there is still a small segment for them to overtake. Do you think Apple should...

Historically, the iPad has had 6 models - three different storage options (16, 32, 64) for WiFi only and three for WiFi + 3G. With the introduction of iCloud and especially the iTunes component of iCloud, will Apple just continue making models with the same amounts of storage space (maintaining the 16 GB base model would be cheaper for Apple)? Or will they bump the storage sizes to 32, 64, and 128? My main concern is this - While music and other media files can be stored in the cloud, many apps...

I've been looking for a bluetooth keyboard that i can use with both my PC, iPhone, and iPad. I would like it to be able to switch between my devices quickly too. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
The US Copyright Office in 2010, stated Jailbreaking iOS devices is legal. Now this exemption is running out. I would like to hear what you think about rooting or jailbreaking. I'm doing some research of my own and want any information, whether you oppose Jailbreaking/Rooting or you're in favor, I want to know. Please be as detailed as possible when replying, so that your comment is not misconstrued.
