So I just bought a Jawbone UP. I tried to connect it to my HTC One X, but it wouldn't connect on Android 4.1. I thought there was something wrong with the UP, but it worked just fine when connected on my iPad 4.
Anyone else have experience with connecting the UP band to other Android devices? How has your experience been?
I've been the owner of every iPhone but the first one but I've reached a point where I'm extremely bored with it. This happened shortly after my iPhone 5 purchase. Although this is the best and most beautiful iPhone ever, I suddenly found myself yearning for something different. I made a rash decision and returned my iPhone 5 for an S3 only to run right back to my iPhone 5. I hated the Samsung apps and Touchwiz in general. Plus I felt a certain incompatibility to my spouse, family & friend's...

No, GMaps isn't in the App Store yet. But Nokia's HERE Maps is, and it brings a highly detailed global mapping system to the iPhone and iPad, including live traffic, public transportation info, offline maps, and turn-by-turn navigation. It's not a complete replacement for Google Maps, and...

http://images.apple.com/pr/bios/images/forstall_hero20110204.png Most people don't know who Scott Forstall is. But to those who do, he's something of a demigod. If the future of mobile is software, and Apple is the company in pole position, then Forstall, Senior VP of iOS, is arguably the guy driving and defining the future. And as of today, he's officially out at Apple. But don't panic, this is actually probably going to be a very good thing. Here's why:
I have read a lot of reviews and discussions where they are comparing the specs of a device against another. There have been lots of comparisons of late of the iPad, Surface tablet and Nexus 7. Does it really matter what their hardware is when you are comparing devices designed for different operating systems? The iPad 3rd gen has a dual core processor and only 512 GB of ram and the New surface tablet has a quad core processor with 2 GB of ram and they are both are comparably fast and responsive...

Tim is up on stage and talking! What do you think so far of what has been shown off and said? Don't forget we're also there, live! http://live.gdgt.com/live-ipad-mini-launch-event-coverage/ Announced:

Mac mini (late 2012): http://gdgt.com/apple/mac-mini/late-2012/
The iPad mini rumors have been swirling for a while and as more pictures of parts continue to leak (http://9to5mac.com/2012/10/02/purported-ipad-mini... they seem to be more and more credible. Well, this morning The Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443... sorry, subscription required) has stated their sources have informed them that production has in fact...

I though apple removed you tube completely but there is still an option in Photos app that looks and works same as in iOS5, oversight or just trying not piss off too many users? BTW I don't think google's youtube app has an option to upload any videos
This morning a letter was posted to the Apple website (http://www.apple.com/letter-from-tim-cook-on-maps... from Tim Cook apologizing for how Apple “fell short on their commitment” with Maps. Here is the full letter if you can not access it at work: To our customers, At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration...

I just watched the end of WWDC 12 and one of the API's that Scott Forestall talked about was "Transit" and said that 3rd parties do it very well and that Apple isn't going to build transit into maps but rely on the Transit API.
With all the hoopla around iOS 6 Maps losing transit maps, it seems as if Apple planned for this.

About 40:30 mark, Scott talks about transit maps. Probably nobody remembers this nugget.
http://media.gdgt.com/img/products/471/a3uc/a3uc-460.jpg We've all heard the complaints: While iOS 6 brings a few great new features to the iPhone 5 (and some other iOS devices), the new Maps app doesn't match the Google Maps app that came with earlier versions of iOS. Gone are Street View, mass-transit directions, and Google's robust info on points of interest. But all isn't lost. Google Maps will be coming back to iOS, and it's reasonable to expect Apple's native app to improve. In the...

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/09/iphone-5-event.jpg Apple has officially announced a press event for September 12th. There have been a lot of rumors swirling over the last month about new connectors, designs and parts for upcoming Apple devices. It looks like we'll get some answers next week! Here is a list of some of the rumors that could be resolved:
Firstly notification centre is great for, well, notifications, but the iOS version also has "widgets", such as stocks and weather. I think a new widget addition should be "now playing" which would show you the album art, title, artist and album of the currently playing track. Given how quickly you can check the weather, or how your stocks are doing, it seems ridiculous that in order to see all that information, you need to swap to either iTunes or Music, to see that. Sure, you can see the track...

Maybe I'm only saying this because the Zune HD never got the love it deserved, but Microsoft should come out with a Windows Phone-based competitor to the iPod touch (i.e. a smartphone without the phone part). Why? Because it would help establish Windows Phone as a viable platform. Challenging the iPod touch isn't going to tip the balance for Microsoft all on its own, but having one could make things a little easier (and it probably would not upset Microsoft's OEM partners as much as doing a...

This device looks awesome! Lower back pain is such an issue in everyday life that magnifies as one gets older. I really think devices like this can allow people to be more pain free and thus happier (later) in life! I realize this is the earliest version and so there will be many issues, but posture is a tough issue to tackle and I like this idea a lot. If executed well, creative ideas like this show that tech is forever improving daily life. Hopefully this can be interwoven or mixed into...

http://media.gdgt.com/img/product/1/iphone-1st-gen-2wu-640.jpg Five years ago today the original iPhone launched. I remember it very well -- partly because it seemed like half the staff of Engadget was crashing at my place for the initial US release. The hype was totally out of control considering the first iPhone was a $600 unsubsidized 2G device on a single US carrier. Still, it felt like the future. It WAS the future. I've used every subsequent model of iPhone every day since. A lot's happened...
