- Speed and features I only went with the Core i3, because it was replacing a broken Core 2 Duo (equivalent speed). Should have gone i5.
- Design and form factor As usual for Apple, beautiful industrial design. Fantastic screen!
- Expandability Most expansion has to be done externally (hard drives, etc.). Only thing that can be expanded internally is RAM.
- Noise Generally it's pretty quiet. If you work it hard, though, it'll heat up and the fans will kick in (they're high pitched, so noticeable)
- Size and weight The screen size (and resolution) is fantastic! If you have to take it in for repair, though, you will realize the trade-off is weight and awkwardness.
- Power consumption No comments
Detailed review
I want to love this machine so badly, but I can't trust it. I've had several major hardware failures with this and two other iMacs since 2007. I probably would have given up on the Mac by now if it weren't for some mission critical apps that are only available on OS X.
I think they put more effort into reliability on the MacBooks than they do on the iMacs. Next Mac I get will probably be portable just for this reason alone (even though I never take the Mac anywhere).
