Windows 7 & gaming too?
details
I am thinking about migrating to an iMac 27" with a Core i5/i7 processor and the ATI 4850 GPU. The Mac will be used daily as a general-purpose Snow Leoaprd office machine: Internet, email, documents, CRM software, and remote management tools. But at night I want to reboot into Windows 7 and play Supreme Commander 2, Dawn of War 2, BioShock 2, Mass Effect 2 (huh, I'm sensing a theme this year with new games...). Does anyone have any experience running this new iMac in Windows 7 for Steam... Read more →

iMac or Macbook with Touchscreen
details
Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on a possible iMac or Macbook/Pro with a touchscreen. There are rumors that a touch iMac is coming. Jobs said to reporters "Wait till people see what we have in store for the iMac this year". All are rumors though and given that everyone thought the iPad was the second coming, well it shows how rumors are. I am just wondering what people think of the idea for/against and reasons why they think this? I personally think Apple is moving... Read more →

Is anyone else both in love with this machine and scared to buy it?
details
Simply, this machine is the answer to my prayers. I run a small web development business, and certainly this can meet any requirements I would need of it for that. How I would love to take this crappy 24" tv/monitor (i currently use a samsung touch of color) 4xx series and banish it from my desk to a cable box for eternity. How I would love to toss this old ass dell tower in the garbage. Sadly though: I am so tempted to throw a couple of bucks down to get one of these guys, yet I am just... Read more →

The next imac refresh.
details
I'm seriously saving for one of these babies, but will it be worth it to wait for the next refresh? I heard the refreshes take about a year, so they will be released around October 2010, which is acceptable to wait for me (since i will be saving for like another 6 months or so). What are the upgrades to be expected? Blu-ray? USB3? Standard Quadcore processor?

Amazing / curious pricing of the 27” iMac
details
Taken from http://www.marco.org/222434049 The more I think and learn about the curious pricing of the 27” iMac, the more bizarre and incredible it seems. It has a resolution of 2560x1440, which no other monitor in the industry seems to have (that I can find). 30” LCDs are the same width but 1600 tall. Shrinking 2560-wide into a screen that’s 3” smaller diagonally yields an impressive pixel density, especially given the panel’s still-immense size. It has an IPS panel. IPS is the best... Read more →

27 inch iMac as an external display
details
Early reports were saying the 27-inch iMac can function as an external display for another Mac, a Blu-Ray player, etc. Has anyone found any documentation on this? I'm really curious how this works and what is required. To clarify, I've heard this feature is not present on the smaller iMacs, just the 27-inch.

Cheating i5s and i7s
details
Looking at the iMac technical specs it seems like the i5 is clocked higher then the i7 in my new laptop and the i7 is ridiculous. I thought that the iMac had laptop parts. If thats true is Apple using different processors then are available to most manufacturers, overclocking or lying and hoping the unusualness of the new clock speed specs and some RDF magic hide the truth....

Intel Core 2 Duo versus i5
details
First post ever, but figured this would be the place to get an answer. Thanks to a failed graphics card I need a new iMac to replace my 3 year old white iMac. Salivating over the 27" but wondering whether or not to get the Core 2 Duo or wait until the new i5 version. I know nothing about chips, but do spend a lot of time in photoshop/illustrator. Very little time with video outside of the occasional clip for fun.
