Every time I logon to my OS X Snow Leopard machine, Finder opens up windows for all my network shares. How do I stop it from doing so?
I have a OS X machine that has mapped network connections to my Windows Home Server. When I logon to the desktop from a reboot, Finder will open all those network connections as a separate window (eg 8 network connections, 8 open windows). I want the network connections as shortcuts on my desktop, but not have the open windows.

Worth upgrading RAM on 4 year old laptop?
I have a 4 year old Toshiba Satellite A135 that runs Vista. It's a little beat up, but otherwise works fine. The processor is Intel Core 2 Duo 1.73 GHz, 110GB HD, and I upgraded the RAM from 1GB to 2 right away when I bought it from Bestbuy in 2007. The battery life sucks and it's heavy, but these things don't bother me anymore. I graduated college in 2008 and since have used it 95% of the time as a desktop, especially since getting my iPhone. So here's the question: Would upgrading the RAM to...

How many bus-powered FW800 disks can you daisy-chain on an iMac?
The Mac Edition of the Iomega eGo Blackbelt has two FW800 ports (as do some other disks Apple sells in it's online store), so you could theoretically daisy chain them. But how many bus powered devices can you actually daisy-chain on one Firewire port on this iMac (should be the 2009 21" model) or any current Mac?

Are there Lion-compatible alternatives to the Magic Trackpad?
I have an iMac and in order to take advantage of gestures in OSX Lion, I'm looking into my options. I don't particularly want to pay for a Magic Trackpad. I was thinking the Wacom Bamboo Touch (which can be had quite cheaply) might be an option, but Wacom has said that it uses a different engine and won't support Lion Gestures, at least for the foreseeable future. Does anyone know of any other options?

For a while now I have been wanting to jump aboard the Mac OSX bandwagon.
I have been trying to find the easiest and cheapest way to achieve this (if the word cheap can even apply here, maybe less expensive is more accurate). Initially I thought about getting an iMac 21.5, then i thought about getting the MacBook Pro 13" so that if I want to take it with me I can. I think i'm pretty much decided on the MacBook Pro but I was thinking of another option. I totaled up how much a Mac Mini, upgraded to 4GB RAM, Magic Mouse and Wireless Keyboard would cost me and...

Has anyone put in 3rd party memory into the Intel iMacs? I've got the Fall 2009 27" model with 2x2GB and it's time to upgrade.
Definitely not paying $800 for 2x4GB when there are cheaper alternatives. I've been searching Newegg and they've got iRam memory, which is (according to them) tested in identical machines to guarantee compatibility. I can pick up 4x4GB for about $250, which would be awesome, but I want to see if anyone's put in third party memory, especially had any experience with iRam. I imagine that if it doesn't work, I can immediately return it and just put my stock memory back and go...
