What it means if Apple plays ball with the cable companies on Apple TV
details
About a year ago I tried to lay out what I thought Apple's various options were if they wanted to make a dent in the living room (http://gdgt.com/discuss/for-apple-making-a-tv-wou... They were to:
  • Route around the cable and satellite providers and offer something that works with your existing set-top box while layering in online services (like Nintendo's TVii or Google TV);
  • Partner with the cable and satellite providers and offer a set-top box of its own;...

No iOS 6 announcement!!!
details
The Apple TV is the only iOS device that has not had a release of iOS 6. Today would have been the perfect time. Along with announcing an App Store for it as well. It seems as if Apple doesn't want to support one of their best (and overlooked) products.

Can Aereo finally be the company to disrupt TV and bring cord cutting to the masses?
details
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/08/aereologo.jpg
If you haven’t heard of Aereo before it’s probably because they’re a new company focusing on the New York metro area but it’s something you should be paying attention to. From the Aereo press... Read more →

What it will take for the Nexus Q to be successful.
details
News broke that Google was going to delay the launch of the Nexus Q to improve its product before the launch. This is almost definitely due to the negative press and public reception of the device. In fact, gdgt awarded the device a lowly 56 with the conclusion to pass on it. (3rd lowest score in gdgt history I believe)
So with Google now taking the time to re-engineer, I was thinking what it would need to be successful, and I am interested in your opinions on this too.
I feel that the Nexus Q... Read more →

Is it worth it?
details
I have a Mac mini running as my htpc in the living room but I was considering buying an Apple tv for the upstairs bedroom in order to have access to Netflix and any iTunes media I have in my Mac mini. The simple question is, is it worth it? It seems like a little overkill on my part when I can just as easily hook up my PS3 upstairs and have Netflix and other video streaming sites instantly available. Also, is AirPlay really worth justifying my purchase?

mlb.tv 2012 :: Which connected device is best?
details
The MLB TV service is available for many connected devices this year (http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp?co... including Xbox [new], PS3, Roku and AppleTV.

I was wondering if one device was better than others in terms of featureset and performance for the 2012 version of the MLB app when connected to a 1080p HD TV.
