Conclusion: We're mixed

As one of the first speakers to support Play To -- Microsoft's Windows-based competitor for Apple's AirPlay -- the Aris might be considered a niche product. However, as Sound and Vision says, the Aris is a "fine performer as a desktop speaker, with impressive sound in a compact package." Wired concurs, saying that "the Aris made every genre — from country to chiptune — sound great in my testing." And according to the manufacturer, swappable cards will soon enable it to work with Bluetooth and AirPlay, providing much more flexibility. That could make it worth considering, even if you're not using Play To -- though at $500, it remains one of the most expensive wireless speakers on the market.

With 100 watts of total power, this wireless speaker truly rocks. Stylish, unique design with an adjustable base. Wireless card slot protocol aids flexibility — Aperion says AirPlay and Bluetooth cards will be added before summer. No remote. Superfluous EQ presets, particularly “Bass Boost.”
