Rating
- Display / readability The screen is crisp and definitely readable, even in direct sunlight. 4/5 because it could have higher pixel density.
- Battery life Seems better than my previous 3rd-gen Kindle. Been reading for a couple nights in a row and haven't seen a drop.
- Store and selection of titles Amazon has a great selection of titles, more than most others. However, you are still going to happen upon some books that are not Kindle-ready.
- Ease of use While there is probably a steeper learning curve to the Touch than the Kindles with buttons, it's easy to use and intuitive.
- Document support The way Kindle handles documents has always been awkward to me. You have to email them to a special email address or connect to your computer.
- Storage capacity Holds more books than you could ever read.
- Durability Seems well made. I don't suggest dropping it on purpose, but I imagine most of the device could take a beating - maybe not the screen through.
- Design and form factor Really love the new form factor, it feels very well made and solid in the hand.
- Portability (size / weight) I have large hands, and it's a little awkward to hold because it's pretty small, but it's not horrendous.
Detailed review
I really love the Kindle Touch - way more than my Kindle Keyboard. It only refreshes once every six pages which makes page turns relatively instant (probably faster than you could turn one in a real book). The new navigation system is intuitive, and the system's touch is very responsive and easy to use.
Like I noted above, I've never been a fan of the way Kindle handles documents, and too often I've loaded a PDF that just doesn't work right. I would not use it as a go to for saving documents for later use.
The sound is good, a little tinny, but good out of the two rear speakers. The browser seems more responsive than I remember, and is much MUCH easier to use with a touch screen.
Love it!
