Is it possible to customize the ads on the Amazon Kindle?
details
Scenario: Pulling my brand new Kindle Touch out of my bag to show my friends this neat little ebook reader. Unfortunately, the advertisement that is currently displayed on the screen features a model putting on expensive makeup in front a mirror. At a quick glance, you could totally mistake this for some sort of Danielle Steele novel. And people do! My friends instantly say to me, "Wow, nice! I didn't know you like reading romance novels, Dave."
Nooooooooooooo! Reputation ruined. Respect lost.... Read more →

Any way to hack ePub support into the Kindle Touch?
details
Hello. :)

Does anyone have experience installing something like CoolReader 3 onto the Amazon Kindle Touch? Specifically, I'm interested in looking at a way to possibly read ePub files on the Kindle Touch through unsupported methods (and ideally, without converting from ePub to Mobi in Calibre).

More info:

Thanks!

Books on Kindle.
details
I am going to buy a kindle touch. But, I already have a huge collection of ePub books which I want to read on the kindle. After doing some search, I found a software called Calibre which converts ePub to mobi format. My question is, will the converted books behave the same way like the books bought on kindle or will they behave like PDF on kindle where you need to zoom in and zoom out?

Slow wake up from stand-by
details
Anybody have this issue? My Kindle Touch seems to take forever to wake up from stand-by (from the screen that shows ads). When I press the power button, sometimes it can take 10 seconds plus to wake the Kindle. I don't have many books in it. The only "cure" seems to be a hard reboot, then after a while it will be the same.

Good but cheap covers for Kindle Touch
details
I just got a Kindle Touch and it seems fantastic, but I'd like a little more protection for that gorgeous screen. I'd love for something along the lines of the iPad 2's smart cover, which doesn't add much bulk to the device itself but still guards the tablet well.

Any recommendations? Amazon's leather lighted cover seems nice, but it's way more expensive than I'd hoped.

How's The Kindle Touch's PDF Pinch/Zoom/Panning
details
For anyone familiar with the Kobo Touch, you know that one of the reader's best features is its phenomenal pinch/zoom and panning capabilities. Though choppy in the traditional e-ink fashion, the Kobo is a panning beast--which is stellar for people like me (students) who consume a lot of readings via scanned PDFs assigned by professors. (Video example here @ 0:28 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35Wk39I1h20)

I wanted to know if anyone could speak to how the Kindle performs with this kinda thing.

KINDLE TOUCH and WEB BROWSERING
details
Dear all,
I have question regarding the Kindle Touch WiFi and web browsering. Am I right that I suppose that this Kindle Touch WiFi allows to browse all webpages (e.g. google mail or any other website) by using WiFI as the previous models. Or only Amazon website is allowed through WiFi connection?
Thanks for reply

Are you keeping your kindle AND getting a Kindle Fire?
details
I'm wrestling with whether I should sell my Kindle when the Kindle fire shows up, or keep it around. There are positive things about the e-ink kindles like sunlight reading and battery life that make me think I should keep it in a drawer for specific circumstances. What are your plans?

On the Kindle Keyboard, how large are the keys?
details
I am trying to decide between the Touch and the Kindle Keyboard.. I have been using a Blackberry for years, as required by work. The keys on the keyboard are very tiny in comparison to my stubby fingertips, and I frequently hit two keys at once unless I use a stylus to type. Will I have the same problem with the Keyboard? Is the Touch screen keyboard adequate, if typing a document? I see no measurements anywhere on this point. Hard to believe, but this is my first Kindle, as I have been...
