I love my Kindle. Even after getting an iPad, I still do 90% of my reading on the Kindle. There's less strain on my eyes, the battery life kills everything else out there, and the selection is great. I would put it in my Top 3 favorite gadgets of all time. Read the full review →
I've spent a few days using my Kindle 2 now and figured I'd share some thoughts. First I should clarify that I have been reading electronic books (ebooks) for years now. It started when I was living in Hong Kong. I spent a lot of time traveling to different offices so I wasn't able to... Read the full review →

I have been a avid ebook reader since the days of my Palm IIIxe. While the user experience was lacking on a lot of levels I was hooked on the concept. With the Palm TX ebook reading became much better. When the iPod touch came out I was a bit disappointed in the lack of a good ebook reader. By this... Read the full review →
Ever since the first kindle came out, I have been extremely interested in the device, because of it's e-paper display, thin profile, and lifetime wireless data connectivity. This technology improves reading in absolutely every single way. You can resize text, have all of your books with you at... Read the full review →
Point of reference: I'm not one to get hyper-religious about DRM, nor do I compare e-ink single-use devices to multi-use devices like phones. While I have the Kindle app on my iPhone, I use it for quick scanning, reference or time-killing when I'm surprised with downtown. I inherited a... Read the full review →
I decided I had had enough. I'm studying for Cisco certification & have a 90-minute commute. I didn't want to lug those 1000+ page manuals everywhere I went. I wanted something that I could load up with my technical manuals alongside my science fiction and take it on the road. I think the... Read the full review →
I know there are a few readers out there now, but I am going to stick with this one because it has the amazon whisper net behind it. The ability to buy a book anywhere at anytime is quite frankly awesome. I can't recommend this enough if you travel a lot. It can hold up to 1500 non illustrated... Read the full review →
I developed a jones for the Kindle after hearing Leo Laporte and Steve Gibson talk about it on the Security Now! podcast. So I ordered one and I love it. The fact that you can browse the Amazon store and download immediately is awesome. Also, the cost. I know it's high, but remember there are... Read the full review →

I wanted to write this because of the new Apple iPad, many will be giving the Kindle a second thought, don't be lured in. If you're initial purpose was to get a book reader, the Kindle is your device. If you add anything else you'll be distracted. Maybe the iPad will be better for... Read the full review →
I've an avid reader but have always run into two major problems; books take up space and since I read multiple titles simultaneously it's hard to chose what book(s) to bring when I travel. Correcting both of these problems was the purpose behind my purchase of the first generation Kindle.... Read the full review →

Kindle has made my life so much better i was never much of a reader but when i played with my friends he had to fight me to get it back. I have to read a lot as part of my classes and dreaded cracking some of these books but kindle makes it much less of a chore especially with the text-to-speech,... Read the full review →

The Kindle is my favorite reader product in market. The size, screen display and ability to start up multiple books depending on my mood is wonderful. I also enjoy the increase font size feature for when my eyes are bit tired late at night. All around, great gdgt an product. I have purchased for 3... Read the full review →

I still suggest a kindle for people that are going to be actually reading books on a device. I have an iPad, but it's not the same. Ipad is great for the web and moving around quickly, but if you're going to sit down for a few hours and read something lighter, that you don't have to... Read the full review →

It's a great reading device for Novels and non-fiction. It's not very useful for textbooks, manuals or anything requiring diagrams or any kind of formatting. The battery is amazing and so is the selection of titles. Read the full review →
Now that we've seen Amazon's Kindle 2, unveiled by Jeff Bezos today in New York, I can't help but conclude that the more powerful machine provides only a slim additional reader benefit. Here's why:
There are improvements that make the Kindle 2 marginally better for readers, like faster page turning, smaller better page-turn buttons, longer battery life and the ability to charge via USB. None of the rest of the tweaks affect the actual business of reading directly or indirectly, and even these upgrades probably won't turn Kindle 1 owners an envious shade of green...
Having already handled the Kindle 2 at its launch in New York City, we had a pretty good idea of what we'd be getting into after it arrived at the bunker. Once we actually had a little time to spend with the device, it really started to sink in how much those minor tweaks can add up to make a big difference. Jumping from Amazon's original attempt at an ebook reader to its latest iteration isn't exactly like day and night, but it's definitely a positive shift in the experience, though one that leaves us wondering...
While it's still short of perfection--and has a price tag that's too high--the Amazon Kindle 2 offers a range of improvements that makes it the best overall e-book reader we've seen to date.
When all is said and done, Amazon has built the kind of e-book readers, and they’ve thought of everything with their Whispernet and Whispersync technologies. Books are discounted, typically available at $9.99 for best sellers. One Kindle 2 is lighter than just about one of any book, and yet it can store 1,500 titles. Even with some of the flaws we mentioned about, the Kindle 2 is a must-own for fans of books.
