Sync reset?
details
Is there a way to reset the "Furthest page read" location. I jumped ahead in this commentary I am reading and because of that I can not use the sync to keep my devices on the same page. I would think it would be simple to do but I don't see it.....

What do the location numbers in a Kindle ebook represent?
details
Something we were discussing at lunch today: what do the location numbers inside each ebook in Kindle represent. They obviously don't correlate to actual page numbers, yet they keep your reading location in sync across various devices. Does anyone know what they actually mean? Character count? Paragraphs? (For those wondering what the heck we're talking about, check out the following screenshot from the Mac Kindle app that shows location numbers: http://cl.ly/3W3J302H3v2a0Y1Q1M3o)

NY Times on Kindle
details
Can someone walk me through the experience of using a Kindle for reading the NY Times? I live in NYC and I am hoping to pick up a Kindle during the holidays this year. Is there a monthly fee if I already have a paid NY Times account? Can the daily issue be beamed to my Kindle over WiFi? Is the content on the Kindle *that* much worse than the online and print editions? How is the overall experience? Thanks!

Kindle 2 or Nook 3G
details
I want to get an eReader. I just don't know which one to purchase. They both look nice and have their respective features. I'm going on a trip so no wi-fi, and I want internet access. The only way would would be to use the Kindle with 3G. I want to get the device with the most non-fiction books like history.

I just recently broke down and purchased a Kindle 2 which I had been wanting for some time.

All reviews I have read discussed the long battery life - the website states ~1 week with Wireless on, and ~2 weeks with it off. When I first received it I left wireless on as I figured for now it didn't matter to much since I would mostly be using it at home, but figured I would turn it off if I was traveling or on the go to lengthen battery life. I was surprised when the battery was almost dead after the first full charge in about 3.5 days. I chalked it up to my constant tinkering and the... Read more →

To my own surprise, I'm now doing all my reading on the iPad, and not my Kindle 2.

* But it's come time to decide: start purchasing new books in iBooks, or continue growing my Kindle library? I'm actually inclined to actually start making the switch over to iBooks, if for no other reason than it's based on ePub, which basically everybody (but Amazon) has now adopted as the native format of choice for e-books. (Speaking of which, has anyone actually tried to bring an iBook over to the Nook, or vice versa?) I think Amazon may do conversion from ePub to... Read more →

Returned for damaged screen, new Kindle overnight
details
I read a lot about the fragile screens on the Kindle and experienced it myself yesterday. It slipped out of my hand and fell only about one foot onto the carpet, but alas, a 2" square section of the screen was hurt. Called support and they shipped a new one out that day, yesterday, to arrive today. Only stipulation is to send my damaged unit back within 30 days. Great support. Love the product. Wasn't without my book at all thanks to the Kindle iPhone app .
